Katrina, Holidays at a farm... it sounds so cozy and nice.

Jess, We don't do fall breaks here, just Thanksgiving break. Is it a whole week off?

Autumn is definitely in the air here now. The leaves are starting to turn and plants are starting to die back.

  • Clean Bathrooms.
  • Pay bills.
  • Call:
  • Weed one flower bed or trim bushes.
  • Make a grocery list.
  • Buy groceries.
  • FlyLady: Living Room, Entrance, Dining Room and Front Porch:
    • Dust.
    • Vacuum.
    • Dust Blinds.
    • Sweep the front porch.
    • Clean front door.
    • Wipe down wall and door jambs.
    • Dust Chandelier.
    • Wipe down dining room chairs
  • HHP
To do this week:
  • Continue to work on formatting recipes on Google Docs.
  • Continue to harvest herbs from the garden.
  • Continue to take dried herbs and put them into containers.
  • Clean up Bookmarks on computer.
Projects to work on as time permits:
  • Put together Christmas cookie dry mix kits and add recipe to each kit.
  • Print off newly formatted recipes. I'm going to hold off on this for now. I'll note the ones that are requested again.
  • Add printed recipes to new seasonal recipe binder. I'm going to hold off on this for now. I'll note the ones that are requested again.
  • Research/Write about grandparents
  • Begin moving Google Docs into Google Drive Folders.

Mary, have been looking forward to this break. DH and I were going to go on a road trip to a State south of us that we have been to twice before and try and finish the whole State. We have visited the centre and the west of the state and we were going to do the East this time. (it is one of our smallest states). Anyway, this is the state that has been hard hit with a second wave and the borders are shut so we decided to just go to the farm and do some things there. We have 2 weeks of holidays so will do some painting and decorating and do a few day trips.

Katrina, do you own the farm? I know where you live now is a rental, correct? I get so excited when you talk about going to the farm! I live vicariously there through you! :D

MissJane, yes we own the farm. The house was built in 1907 and was originally the local school house in our village before being moved to the land it is on now in the 50's and being converted to a house. When we bought it in 2006 it was extremely run down (no floors, windows missing etc) and have been renovating ever since. The man that owned it before us was a recluse (drinking problem) and burned the floors for heating and painted every window in the house so that there was no light at all. The roof leaked and there was no water or electricity supplied to the property.
We are on the last stages of renovating now, most of the construction has been done.
We need to replace the siding on the outside, construct the verandahs and that is it for construction.
It is a tiny little 2 bedroom cottage that sits on 2 acres of land so will be perfect for us. It is not what you are probably imagining so I will try and take photos and post them to here so you can see.

Wow! The before picture that you described sounds like you saw so much potential to the house. I'm sure there were tough moments along the way but you must be proud of the love that you and your family poured into the house to make it a home. :)
