I love this! Every year I say, I’m going to do better on stockings. This is my year as well. Thanks for the encouragement.

I can't believe we are half way through the year! This year will look different for me compared to the last four years. I've been doing remote work with flex time. However, with that job changing, I had to get a new job.

Starting in mid-August I will be back in a school setting with very little flex time. Being an introvert, I know from my former teaching days that when I get home I.am. exhausted! I'm now thinking of all the things I want to get done to make my life easier in the fall with Christmas Prep. I already did a deep clean and a surface declutter of the living room and dining room yesterday. I'll finish off with the entrance and front porch. If time permits, I'll move on to the kitchen.

Daily:
  • Exercise
  • Calendar Review of Appointments/Meetings
  • Reading
  • Writing

Weekly:
  • Dust/Vacuum/Mop
  • Bills
  • Laundry
  • Menu Planning
  • Groceries
  • End of Week Reflection
  • Set Research/Writing Goals/Biographical Questions
  • Weed Garden

Monthly:
  • Living Room, Entrance, Dining Room and Front Porch:
    • Dust Blinds.
    • Sweep the front porch.
    • Clean the front door.
    • Wipe down the wall and door jambs.
    • Dust the chandelier.
    • Wipe down dining room chairs.
    • Declutter
  • Kitchen
    • Dust the top of the fan.
    • Clean the oven.
    • Clean the microwave.
    • Clean out the refrigerator.
    • Wipe down cabinets and appliances.
    • Wash the floor.

Additional:
  • Christmas in July Lunch Prep: food, tablecloth, serving pieces, decorations, beverage ware, etc.
  • 2nd Quarter Reflection

Mary, congratulations on the job, it will be a time of adjustment for sure.
You are very organised so I know that by the time you start work you will have everything just so.

Additional:
  • Christmas in July Lunch Prep: food, tablecloth, serving pieces, decorations, beverage ware, etc.
  • 2nd Quarter Reflection
2nd Quarter Goals:

Daily
  • Continue with walking/elliptical, weights, stretches and core work 5 days a week. Add in gardening and additional walking when time permits.
  • Continue with listening to spiritual podcasts 7 days a week.
  • Add in 5 minutes of daily reading time 5 days a week.

Weekly
  • Continue with weekly reflections.
  • Set weekly goals for research and writing.
  • Refine weekly recipes and menus.
Monthly
  • Start Monthly Reflections again
  • Start Monthly Christmas Prep again.

What worked in the 2nd Quarter?
  • In addition to continuing with exercising 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes a day, I’ve reduced my starch intake to about 15 grams per meal. This has helped me to lose weight. My clothes fit better. I do allow myself to have a tasting of cakes and cookies if it is a birthday, wedding, holiday, etc.
  • I’ve cut out eating after 7 pm except Sundays when I have to eat dinner at 4 pm and then eat peanut butter when I get back home at 7:30 pm.
  • I started back with Monthly Christmas prep again.
  • I started to declutter my mind of endless ideas by eliminating the unnecessary activities. I had to ask myself some hard questions about want vs. need. Would I be better off stopping some activities in order to free up time to go after my own personal goals of growth?

What didn’t work in the 2nd Quarter?
  • Weekly goal setting for research and writing were not done until June. I think I figured out part of the reason. Too much time was being spent on doing things for others but not enough time was being spent on doing things for me.
  • Monthly and Weekly Reflections were not done as often as I wanted. Weekends were so busy in May.
  • Daily reading was extremely difficult to do. Oh, I was reading when I was researching online but the actual reading of a book is what I had in mind when I wanted to get in 5 minutes a day.
  • I have autobiographical questions that I would like to answer but I haven’t been consistent in answering.
