I suppose that it is time that I start thinking about my word for 2014.
It is going to be a big year for me.
DD turns 21 and I turn 49 in January, so my last year as a 40s something.
We are heading off to the US in May so I am very excited for that.

I suppose though that for me I want the last year of my 40s to be a finishing point to "tidy up" all the loose ends before embarking on what my 50s may bring. Make sense??

So i need a word that describes that special time. Will need to work on it over the next few weeks.

Has anyone else given thought to their word of the year yet??

Good idea to start thinking about! I have made gains in my health focus - yet still have a ways to go.

Katrina, you and I have this in common:

"DD turns 21 and I turn 49 in January, so my last year as a 40s something." But I will turn 49 in December.

I also have been thinking of my word...trying to notice when I see single words on signage, etc. if I think it's the word for me for 2014. "Tranquility" is hitting the top of the list lately. I just need some in my life.

I'm eager to see what everyone chooses.

Katrina- This has been on my mind the last couple of days!!!

I have been thinking about the words "Organize" or "Space."

Want to create the space in my life to allow some wonderful things to come into it.

Y'all know I struggle with the concept of saying no.

But I also want to get organized. My office, my home office, my storage.
A lot of stuff from the move still hasn't been dealt with (like my guest room that still has unpacked boxes in it).

These are some of my thoughts......

Thanks for getting us going, Katrina!

As I just turned 50, I agree that your 49th year is pretty special!

I am now an empty nester, and really, this is the first time that it will be just me and my DH alone together. Besides kids' vacations, etc., since we moved in together it has always been us and the kids. I guess we are doing it backwards, kids first, then just us alone, lol. And it will be the first time in almost 30 years I don't have to "take care" of someone; parent, child, etc.

So I have a few things to ponder as well...self, discovery, rediscovery...It should be an interesting year!

My word is picked for 2014!!!

It is: SPACE.

Figure that can incorprate Organization in there because as things get organized, it allows for more space- physically and mentally.

Annie :)

Wouldn't it be great if we could have a huge 50th birthday party for all our 50 year olds!!!

I won't be 50 but I would come for the party! :)

I am still thinking about my word, but I think I have settled on.......COMPLETE.

This means that I want to complete things that I start, to complete things that have been on my to do list for a while.
It also means that I want to be (if I can) the complete package. Try to be the best mother, wife, co-worker, friend that I can be.

I want to be able to do things that make me complete.

Alot of meaning in that one little word.

Thanks Annie, it is funny how much thought we give to our word, but if it is something that really means a lot we are more likely to stick to it. If I add it to your word we would have complete space. AHHHHHHH lovely

Love all the words that have been chosen so far! I'm still contemplating what mine will be. I'm thinking about FUN, but not sure yet. I need to learn how to have fun again and just let go.

I have such a hard time with this!!! Last year was the only year when the word came to me quickly and firmly - Tranquil.

I don't know thinking about something to do with self-improvement, growing, etc...-Self-improvement: Collins dictionary definition: improvement of ones’ status, mind, abilities, etc… by one’s own efforts
Or being mindful. Not sure at all. Would love a short phrase.

This one could combine the two words....
If you don't know where you are going,
you'll end up someplace else.
Yogi Berra

Or
Nothing contributes so much to tranquilize the mind as a steady purpose--
a point on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye.
Mary Shelley

Any ideas?
