June Rudolph Day Movie: Christmas in Connecticut

Barbara Stanwyck and Dennis Morgan

I'm sure many/most of you know this movie Stanwyck plays Elizabeth Lane (think a sort of Martha Stewart) who is a famous food writer. She describes herself, her husband, her farm, etc. and the recipes she makes so well.

The catch is that her magazine's publisher has no idea it is all made up - the recipes coming from a friend she helped out years before - who now runs a restaurant.

Her publisher decides he wants to boost circulation by inviting a returning war veteran to spend Christmas with Elizabeth and her family on her beautiful farm in Connecticut. Then the scramble to avoid having the deception uncovered begins!

I've seen this movie so many times and it never fails to charm! It is full of fun and great Christmas moments!

Its not one a lot of people know aobut but I love that movie!

I absolutely LOVE that movie!!! There was also a remake in 1992 with Kris Kristofferson playing the vet.

dreamto - I was just posting about that remake on the June thread! I assume you've seen it? I haven't and have been curious as to what it was like.

Got the movie today---hope to watch it this week-end. The one I got has Kris Kristofferson in it, Tony Curtis and Dyan Cannon it in. Director is Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It was a little different from the first movie. I think I prefer the first, but both are enjoyable!

May I suggest Serendipity http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0240890/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 It only has a 6.9 of 10 but I enjoyed it and can even get dh to watch it with me.

Sounds good to me. Would you like to host? You just have to put up a post a few days before to remind everyone of the title and if you could let us know if it's on Netflix or Amazon Instant Video, that would be helpful.
