Just curious as to what everyone is doing for crafting gifts this year. I need a few ideas, would love to hear what you all have planned.

Thanks.

Im doing map ornaments. I did one for us last year and one friend. I had so many comments on it when it was on the tree. Im doing more this year. Easy, cheap and quick!
Google map Christmas ornaments.

I chose street maps of our house and the street map of where my friend grew up. Some will get state or country maps.

As usual, I'm making several felt ornaments in various themes suited to the person I'm gifting to.

I also plan to buy a 3 pack of bar style aprons from Sam's Club and embroider a simple pattern and saying. Right now I'm thinking the outline of a wire kitchen whisk with the saying of "Whisky Business" :)

I'm also planning an Angry Birds felt toy set for DS:

I made DD5 two pairs of mittens, and I made a pair for DD3, but I can't find them so may have to make more.

I'd like to find an ornament to make and start a tradition of making the kids each an ornament every year.

DD3 has a hooded sweater she loves that she's outgrowing and I bought a magazine with a pattern for making a similar sweater in a larger size. I'm hoping to make one for each of my girls, each in their favourite colour.

No idea what to make DH yet.

The creativity of you sweet ladies is simply amazing. You are such an inspiration.

I'm working on a lot of crafts but they aren't necessarily "Christmas gifts" but rather to give during the holiday celebrations such as the pillow cases for each grandchild for our annual holiday sleepover, the gingerbread aprons for decorating cookies, the Christmas wrapped juice boxes for our family Christmas meal, etc.......

Greetings!

This thread is right up my alley! I like to have something home made for each family member, especially DDs and DGDs. DH and DSonsIL are harder.

Ideas I have so far:

  • Each DGD will get an ornament. When they are a bit older (like Iris, age 7), I try to make the ornament reflect something special about that year.
  • Each DGD will get an Advent ornament with the number of what Christmas they are celebrating (Iris 7th; Sonja 2nd; and Julia 1st) All of Iris' and Sonja's Advent ornaments are ready, and I'm working on Julia's. I want to make them all, so I don't have to stress about it every year. I call them Advent because eventually they will have 25 of them to use as an Advent calendar.
  • Since I am Iris' Godmother, I give her a CCS Chrismon ornament commemorating her baptism (December 20th). These also are all done, and I just send her one each year for her to collect.
  • I saved the wine bottle corks from DD and DSonIL's wedding and plan to make one or more ornaments with them. I don't think they know that I have them.
  • I want to make growth charts for Sonja and Julia which will either be Christmas presents or 1st BD presents (November and February).
  • I'm thinking I'd like to make red pepper jelly for friend's gifts and hostess gifts.
  • I have a hat and cowl knit up for a friend that I like to give a gift to.
  • I also have a prototype made up of some cute gift tags that I may make to give as gifts.

That's all I can think of for now. I'm on the lookout for other ideas.

I have quilts in the making for the 5 great nieces and nephews and also for the 3 nieces/nephews. Jelly roll for the girls (5) and denim blocks for the boys (3).

Vanilla has been making since February.

I will do my ornaments for family/friends. Can't reveal because one will be the one I made for CIJ swap.

For Teigan I want to do some baby doll items, Diapers, bibs, small burp rags.

Still planning a Quiet Book for Teigan but not sure if Christmas or not. (b'day or Easter)

luludou - Thanks for all the links! I'm not very good at crochet....just making my first ever little blanket right now, and it's full of mistakes. Little projects might be okay to tackle though.

I love the idea of the gingerbread man. My older girl would love it, and my littlest would probably cry thinking he was hurt, lol. I think I might try to make the gingerbread men but unbroken. DD5 loves Gingy from Shrek, and DD3 has a story book of The Gingerbread Man. I could probably decorate them to look like those characters. Thanks for the idea!

I am making jams and applebutter. Strawberry jam is done. Waiting on blueberries then will make cherry berry jam. Apple butter will be made in Sept. I have a huge batch of vanilla extract going now to that I will bottle up for the ladies in the family.

I want to head to Hobby Lobby and Michaels soon to get stuff to make ornaments and I was thinking of making rice hand warmers packs too.
