My Happy Place
My family and I have decided that we are done with outdoor decorating and handing out candy on Halloween night.

It hasn't been an enjoyable experience the last few years and since my kids are well past the trick or treating age, I feel no obligation to continue.

My kids have been great about staying home to help hand out candy and deal with our pets that like to make a run for the door, but at ages 20 & 18 - they want to do their own thing and I don't blame them.

I will still decorate inside as that makes me happy, but I am ready to let go of the rest.

The end of an era, indeed.

changes can be sad, but freeing at the same time. Glad you found what works for your family!

Sometimes we do have change. This year I only decorated inside because we were attending a party on Halloween night. I do like giving out candy but my kids want to do their own thing so I do it for me.. they don't participate anymore.
