Select Xbox, Brinker's, Nintendo or Domino's Gift Cards are 15% off at Family Dollar. I don't know what Brinker's is, but some of you may have it where you live.

I have bought a lot of gift cards this year. I am thinking that next year I will buy earlier and stock up.
MissJane, that is a good deal.

One of the big stores I shop at give points for dollars spent.. At the moment I have a free $10 that I can redeem off a shop. I have asked to keep that $10, keep collecting until I have enough for a store gift card. I am thinking that with the amount I spend I should "earn" about $50 this year and that will be a gift card for my FIL as part of his Christmas gift.

Have started buying gift cards for DH for Christmas. Have a $50 one put away and will add to it when I can.
Now have $20 on my store rewards card, slowly but steadily building it up.

None of our grocery stores have monetary rewards anymore. Brookshire's used to. Then, ours closed. We have a Super 1. You can buy gift cards, but it's a one time purchase. You can't add money to it, which is how I like to do it. I don't like keeping up with a bunch of them.

None of the gift cards here are ones that you can add to so DH ends up with 5 or 6 cards to the hardware for smaller amounts. He is always happy with that.

i like giving gift cards just worried that some stores will close by christmas.
This, sadly, is a real possibility given the number of stores that are going out of business. They just can't compete with the convenience of online shopping and the low prices that sites like Amazon.com offer.

I guess you can give the "vanilla" visa cards that can be used anywhere.

I made the expensive mistake last year of picking up a couple of Visa (or maybe they were American Express) cards for my nephews - 2 cards, $50 each, and there was a $9.95 service charge to activate them for each one! My first experience with this type of transaction, didn't know any better. Just found out my bank makes the Visa cards available for just the face amount. I'll be picking them up there this year.

Pamela, I am tired of service charges on things. Bought movie tickets online recently for my DrillDance team, Needed 7 tickets and they put a $1.50 service fee on each ticket even though I did it all in one transaction. An extra cost of $10.50. Some of the gift cards here have a service fee so you do need to watch.

Honestly, we're planning to shop at THEIR store, or go to one of THEIR events - why would they even consider asking us to pay more? LOL

Not sure, certainly is frustrating though and I cannot see it changing.
