We're swift to point out our failures. I thought I would start a thread to celebrate our things we "got right." They can be little things we did, big things we did, anything we did!! It can be lists or a narrative, whatever you feel you want to share.

1/3/23 Finally decided on a retirement date. It's tough to think about not seeing my co-workers every day, and not having the mental stimulation of my job as I love what I do, but I'm done getting up at 4:30am, being gone from 6am to 5pm everyday, running errands and doing chores on the weekends because I'm exhausted at night. I'm moving back to the Housewife Life, bring it on June Cleaver!

One of my goals for 2023 is to be more mindful of my food budget, which includes eliminating food waste. Although I usually cut recipes in half, making 2 servings instead of 4, there's often something that doesn't get used up when I repurpose dinner into lunch (i.e. chicken with all the fixings for dinner, leftovers made into chicken salad for lunch the next day; what do I do with the rice or stuffing and leftover veg?). Had leftover stuffing from the weekend, and made a 1/2 batch of meatloaf for dinner tonite. Hmmm ... why use breadcrumbs for the binder, when I have leftover stuffing? My recipe calls for sage, and that's in the stuffing, so I gave it a go. Turned out excellent! A win-win toward one of my goals AND on dinner.

When making plans with my friend I told her what we were doing instead of asking her what she wanted to do and told DH he was meeting us for dinner.

Doing things my way!

I am quite good at planning. Today I sat with Mum, cemented some plans for the year and Christmas.
A win as I got to spend time with Mum and I got to do some planning.

I decided to set some habit goals for myself and so far have stuck to them. So far I have been successful at drinking 48oz of water daily (but kids haven't come back yet), reading 30 minutes a day (minimum), and taking the recommended by the G.I. doctor vitamins and supplements. I also journaled once and we have been eating dinner at home instead of grabbing fast food or whatever. I have also been stopping my coffee intake after my morning cup or two. That was no easy feat!

1/4/23 Instead of going through and getting chicken, along with sides, for fellowship supper at church, I cooked something while cooking supper last night to take tonight.

Today we ordered a "green bin". We will be rid of the trash collection that we use now and just use the green bin for gardening waste. A win for us as it will save some money.

Anything you drink that has water in it counts towards the total. Our bodies do not care if it is plain water or mixed with something (well maybe not alcohol) and even food with a high water count figures in. Our bodies will extract the water it needs.

Even Diet Pepsi starts as water! Especially when I make it in the SodaStream!

1/7 Stayed at home and cleaned in the spare bedroom instead of going to Monroe.
