We are taking our kids to the local orchard this fall for hayrides and apple picking. Then we will turn those apples into home made applesauce and apple butter.

Hi! I live in Haverford...about 8 miles outside Center City. Where is Fallsington? I'm ashamed to say I don't know our state very well...DH and I are transplants!

Fallsington is in Bucks County next to Yardley-Langhorne-Levvittown-I was borned in Missouri-spent most of my life in Kentucky-then moved to Westchester County in New York and now have been in Pa for about 20 years-Fallsington is a historic town-very small-William Penn is the hero of the town-Woman

Crisp mornings - the first morning you see your breath in the air
The sound of leaves crunching beneath your feet.
The beautiful fall-toned clothing, pumpkin, cranberry, and greens.
The first day you can wear a toque and mittens.
Scarves.
Burying under a warm comforter at night.
Fall decor: pumpkins, pinecones, cornucopia.
Sense of renewal that comes every September. Maybe something left in us from childhood that sees September as the new year.

Great thread! I love fall.

For me:

The colors
The hint of changing weather
Knowing that the holidays are just around the corner
My twins b/d is in November
Time to change the decor in my apartment
Colts football
Cool weather treats~baked apples, pumpkin bread/muffins, chili, ham and beans (Ok, I do make some of these things year round, but it evokes feelings of fall)
My DGS's b/d in October

This is the first year in a very long time that I will be home to actually do some of these things! I love the fall season, because it leads up to.....CHRISTMAS!

Hi Snowey,

Last weekend the TV got left on and football game was playing. I don't watch it normally, but it did put a feeling of fall atmosphere in the air! It also reminded me of my dad who loved the game.

Lovely lists!!!

In addition to what so many have shared, mine would also include:

- Turning on the white twinkle lights in the fall leaf garland I've decorated around the house with
- Lighting fall candles

Both of these things are my answer to the darkness of shorter days...

- Having it be really cold enough to pull out my yoga pants, long sleeved soft cotton shirts and thick socks for lounging in the evenings! And my zip up hoodies for extra warmth!

- Making/Baking recipes we only make during the colder months again! Back are the soups, pot pies and stuffed shells, etc. that are too much to bear in the summer heat!

- The calls of the geese overhead

- Camping! We prefer our trips during this time of year!

- Football parties!

- Getting out the heavy bedspreads for our beds, adding an extra fuzzy blanket!

- Watching movies that are set, at least in part, in Fall - You've Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally, and so on...I also tend to gravitate to watching some of the older classic movies too - they just seem to fit the coziness!
