Mental/Emotional: What did you do for yourself this week? I had a good week, including lots of enjoyable personal time beginning with hosing friends for Kaffee und Kuchen (afternoon dessert ... chocolate molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce) and coffee. When we do that, we usually forego dinner or just have a snack. An added benefit to having friends over is the incentive to spiff up the house. Wednesday, we took a ferry ride to meet friends for dinner, and had a great time with them. Thursday was my weekly play-date with Kathy and our Stitched Together meeting which was via Zoom this week. After the meeting we ate lunch and then went to a large local nursery and enjoyed their greenhouses full of wonderful foliage, blooming plants, and demonstration water features (including koi and turtle ponds). I bought a few new houseplants. Hope they survive! Friday, DH and I finally went skiing. The skiing wasn’t great, but it was sunny and so rejuvenating to be outside. I spent more time outside on Saturday doing some weeding. The sun never did reach the spot I was weeding in, but I still relished my time outdoors.

I'm still on my sugar fast. I think I'm eating well. Plus keeping to my exercising ...

I'm on a downward trend with walking. This past week I walked over 5 miles in just over 2 hours. A number of days the temperatures were in the teens. We had snow two days as well. I did a few days of indoor walking just to get the 5 days of 30 minutes exercise in. That has been my minimum goal from the beginning.

Stretches weren't as good this week either. I had a new schedule this week and I'm trying to cut out things to make the necessary things a part of the week. Cutting things out is a bit more difficult than I thought it would be.

I had a pretty good week.
I had another week of exercising before work- 4 days.
I want to do a neighborhood walk this evening so then I get my 5th day!
A 5th day is considered extra credit because my minimum goal is 4 times per week.

I'm eating more at home. You know how I can tell- I run my dishwasher a lot more!
This coming up week I am going to track everything I eat. Try to see if there are any patterns, times when I may grab for a less healthy snack. Maybe see where I'm eating more than I think or too many carbs, etc.

I also had my gallon of water one day. It's been quite a few weeks since I hit that.
Most days I drink a little under a gallon. I do that consistently so I'm pretty happy.

I fell off on my journaling this weekend. Weekends are harder for me because everyone is around. I have been doing good during the week though. Eating is hit or miss. Not feeling good has made me only want to eat junk food or nothing at all, so I skipped dinner several times this week. I have been eating school lunch so that's the most balanced meal I have been getting. I also usually partake in our afternoon snack which is a fruit or vegetable. I usually only eat it when it's fruit, but it's helping me get in those servings a day. Water has been better since I haven't been feeling well and I switched my water bottle to a larger one that I like, so i've been drinking more.

My weight held steady last week, which is an accomplishment. With all the snow and cold, walking outdoors was not a reality, and motivation was not there to go to the indoor track that's open at one of our village facilities. I just seemed tired all week and was always a day off. Been that way ever since I returned from Texas. This week, I'm going to be running the stairs at home, with lots of laundry to do UPSTAIRS from my main living area and video conferencing in my office area DOWNSTAIRS from where I spend most time. I also need to get back on the water and make sure that my intake is on target -- it wasn't last week. I'm not eating out or getting grab-n-go like it was in December, so my home cooking is better controlled, and I'm continuing to work on my menu choices -- including salads and vegetables..

I have been exercising everyday since the 3rd of the month. I need to up my water intake a lot. I only drink about 3 glasses a day.
Meals need to improve. Need to add more fruit and veggies.
Weight was maintained but my clothes are fitting better so I am guessing the workouts are making a difference.

JoDee- Do you have a water bottle?
I noticed when I drink water out of a glass, I don't consume as much.

I agree I use a straw and do better.
Same Diedra! When I use a bottle that I like with a straw, I do so much better on my water intake! I have a pretty one that I got from Starbucks a few years ago and it has a straw. It holds at least 24oz I think. I know I, ideally, need to drink 3 of them a day. Still working on getting to two.

On the water- I have a Camelback water bottle that I got off of Amazon.
I noticed at work I was good but on the weekends terrible. On the weekends, I drank out of a glass.
Made it pretty and everything with sliced lemon. But I did not consume very much.
Now I bring my water bottle home on the weekends and it goes much better!

I also like to grab it when I'm in the car running errands and I'll sip as I drive.

Now my water drinking is much more consistent.

I have a strong feeling about water delivery...lol...Finding what works for you is key in getting your water in. Not everyone likes the same thing. I'm so not about having a water bottle with an open spout...like a cooling water bottle or any one I have to screw and unscrew every time I drink. I tried a straw and I just don't get enough in, so I use a glass that holds 16 ounces and force myself to chug it a couple times a day or I use a Smart Water type disposable water bottle that has a flip top and it is by far the best way for me to be successful. Each one holds 24 ounces so I try and fill 3 up every night before I go to bed. I also don't like to drink my water super cold, which is contrary to most, so I find myself taking one out and leaving it out for a bit so it's not so chilled. In fact I took one out to warm upright before I came to check in here. I'll buy 3 or 5 at a time and use them till they've seen better days and then switch them out.

Jody, just keep playing with different types of bottles and glasses and straws...etc and you'll find something that clicks. If you'd told me mine was a smart water bottle I would of said...What the heck, but IT WORKS, so I'm gonna keep on using them

Well I had a big ol post to respond with my weekly check in and it looks like my computer crashed and I lost it before I actually finished last night. So I'll do my best to try again and remember what I wrote..lol

Last week I wasn't feeling the best, so I stayed home from swimming "just in case". I had a mild sore throat, but nothing major. Basically, when my brother got sick this past Friday/Saturday I decided to test us both and yes...my luck finally ran out and I tested positive for covid. Becuase I wasn't feeling 100%, I cancelled most of my plans and skipped swimming, so my exercise was zilch. I never got super sick, so by the time I tested I think I was on the tail end and had had it for about 7 days. My lungs were already having issues, so coincidentally I'd been to the dr last week already, but that's been ongoing for several months. They gave me a referral to see the pulmonologist for a work up, but now I'll wait it out a bit longer before going to see the specialist and see what happens with my lungs. With that said, I did manage to get Christmas packed up last week and I've been on a few walks the last couple days around my neighborhood, but that's about it. Looking back, I told my husband every day I'd be like...Okay Michelle, get up and do something....YOU CAN DO IT!! My energy was low, but not so bad I couldn't do anything. I'm going to test again in the morning to see where I stand.

Weigh in day was good. I was down ALOT at Weight Watchers. Enough that it felt akward and I had to ensure the lady I wasn't starving myself, I was just having issues with Pre-Menopause doing weird things with my body. Basically it took a couple weeks of up and down for my body to even out with water retention and it looked good at the end. Because of that, I also expected it to stay the same this week and I was right. Although my own personal weigh in schedule at home is on Fridays and that's what my goals are set by, my Weight Watchers meetings are on Wednesday. It's weird, but because I have a splurge day on Friday usually, I don't start tracking my WW points till Saturday. It works for me in my head, so I don't mess with it. I tried doing Wednesdays, but then I'd allow myself to splurge on Wednesday AND one weekend day. This way I plan around any events I may have on the weekend and allow myself that one day to not worry about points.

DJ I love your weekly check i list..I may adapt into that as well or something similar.
Annie, if you can work tracking your food into your regular routine it will help so much. Even if it's not all good, just the act of writing it down bring so much awareness. I really, REALLY believe it's one of the most important things in trying to loose weight. That and drinking the water!!!! Also, kuddos on drinking that much water. I have respect for people that can do it, but I"m not one of them. Getting my 8 glasses in a day is all I can barely do. Occasionally in the summer or days I"m really working hard I can do 10 or 11, but that's max!!
Jampss - Kuddos for keeping that monthly log. I do walk a couple times a week, but it's just around the neighborhood. My pain level with my back still keeps me limited, but it's definately gotten easier for me.

Okay, I'm going to also log my weight loss here to help with accountability. I started my new 24 week goal this past Friday, so I'll start with that.
Weigh in Friday 1/21: 196.4
Total Lost to Date: 108.6 pds
Goal Weight by 7/15: 175

I usually sit and chat with two ladies at work after we eat lunch. Monday, I went to the gym that's right next door and walked on the inside track for almost 30 minutes. I plan to do that the three days a week that I work. It's not enough, but better than nothing.

In the winter, I tend to go for warm water in a mug over regular cold water. We also keep a Brita water pitcher out on the counter for room temperature water. I use a Tervis insulated tumbler so my hands don't feel the temperature change in the water.

I also have insulated 12 oz. travel cups with lids and straws for the spring and summer. When I'm running errands, I keep a 20 oz. stainless steel insulated tumbler with a straw in the car. It does a fantastic job of keeping water ice cold while running errands in the summer.
