I am not doing as well as I like. I'm so bloated with water retention that I just got my shoes on. I am taking a pill that is to help keep it off. I am drinking water, but will try to double it today. The hot weather must be the cause, as that is the only thing that has changed. If it continues, I will have to call the cardiologist.

I also need to make better choices about what I eat.

I pray you can get it under control @Miss JoDee I too go up and down with making bad and good eating choices. It's hard when DH and DS have not so great food in the house that "calls to me"!

Jody, do you weigh each morning? After Mama had her pacemaker, the cardiologist said if her weight increases more than 2 pounds from the previous day to call.

I don't currently weigh myself regularly, but I will start. My brother weighs himself before bed and again in the morning. He usually finds that he is lighter in the morning and gains water weight throughout the day. He had bypass surgery a few of years ago.

I have vein issues and wear compression socks except when hiking and walking in the warm weather. The vein doctor told me last week that warm weather does play a roll in swelling in legs due to blood vessels dialating or something like that. I elevate my legs, stay away from salty foods and drink a lot of water during these warm days.

I am planning to start another "Healthy goals challenge" beginning the first
Monday in August. I want this one to go through October.

If anyone wants to join me.

Just pick a few health goals you want to work on or "tick off" daily/weekly.

Mine will be:
* Activity- 4 x a week
* Hydration- Consistent water (amount to be determined) each day
* A set bed time on work nights
* 3 servings of veggies
May do something else dietary or this may be it.

Four things I want to work on daily:
  • Be more kind and gracious to myself.
  • Light a candle.
  • Get in 10K steps.
  • TV/PC off at 9 pm.

It's August and I'm still trying to do these goals! :)

* Eating more veggies
* Trying to hit 64 some oz of water daily
* Triceps dips, squats, lunges, back strengthening, yoga, 2025 steps daily
* Walk outside (garden stuff)
* Ride stationary bike

I like y'all's goals, too!!!

Count me in!
  • Eat healthier and follow my menu plan more closely. We're in the prime of fresh produce season and there's really no excuse.
  • Start back at the gym, aiming for 3 x a week at a minimum.
  • Water intake -- set alarm, if need be.
  • Work on household tasks, per monthly plan (and switch to HGP, when it begins). I never got a handle on this area after mom's fall in late January, hospitalization, rehab/nursing home stay, and relocation to a new assisted living facility, and my home shows it! I really need to get on top of this part of my life, and stay on top of it for the remainder of the year.

Ugh! This week was eye-opening in several ways. First, bad air quality due to smoke and heat keet me from getting 10K steps daily. I had several 10K and 15K days this week but daily was not realistic.

Second, with the bad air and heat, I stayed inside and became more sedentary with indoor housework. I noticed that I would spend several hours not making the 250 steps that my FitBit reminded me to do. I think to be more realistic, I will change my goal from 10K steps daily to get the 250 steps for 10 hours a day. That would probably help with my veins as well as my mental productivity.

Third, the TV/PC were not off at 9 pm because I forgot. The TV/PC off at 9 pm is still a good goal I just need to remember this week.

I have lit a candle daily and that added some peace to the space. The fact that I am being realistic is one way I can be more kind and gracious to myself.

Due to life, going to the gym didn't happen. I was cooking, cooking, cooking, and working in the storage shed. I may have to have a goal of 30 minutes at lunch each day at the gym until the end of August so I can work in the shed after work. I just can't do both and keep up with housework, too. We're going to have to go a couple or 3 days a week to DD's while they're in Scotland/UK.

DD28 will be there, but she's starting nursing school on the 15th. DD32 doesn't want her to get overwhelmed.

Not perfect at meeting my goals but attempting daily. I find that I must do it first thing in the morning, because later it is not even a thought in my mind. Here's to a better week for all.

Yes, I agree. It is easier to do it first thing. During the school year, I get up at 5:30 am to do the stretches. This summer, I turned off the daily alarm once I went on vacation in June and never turned it back on. It was nice for a change but I honestly don't think I can do that for so long again.

I second ... or third ... the thing about getting it done in the morning or I don't get it done.

The first week is an eye opener!
I miss more than I hit.
I just keep repeating, "Show yourself grace, show yourself grace."
