Last night I decided to try the rice cakes.
Both flavors (apple cinnamon and chocolate) were really good!

The chocolate with just a thin smear of peanut butter was very good and satisfying!
It's about an 80-100 calorie treat. Perfect for a dessert feel!

I bought some mini rice cakes that are caramel from Aldi and put some peanut butter and mini chocolate chips on top. Yummy! @AnnieClaus :)

So ... the last few weeks I have felt like a slug ... I think I have cycles of doing well with healthy-ness ... and then I get tired of doing it and sort of stop.

I did this last week after my blood work showed no changes despite the 4 + miles of daily walking, watching sugars, carbs, cholesterol, etc. I ate everything I gave up for the last six months. Of course, I felt gross afterwards and I have no desire now to eat any of that junk food.

Yesterday, I allowed myself a few treats as I was at a party. I will be away from home this week and will need to be mindful of my choices. It's okay I can do this. I have my cardiologist appointment next month and would really like to show him a good weight loss. I do think one of the meds he has me on is the culprit for the gain. I will be addressing that with him. I am sure there is an alternative.

It's great that you are doing that walking and watching how you eat ... I'm guessing things would be worse if you didn't?

I try not to buy the junk food in the house for the times I stress eat ... but ... LOL now that DS works at a vending machine packing place, he brings home the items that are slightly damaged. Ack!

I’ve been going to the gym 3x a week. I’ve been working with one of the trainers which has helped tremendously. I love we don’t have to pay the gym membership with Silver Sneakers but I wish they would cover the cost of the trainer too. He set up a program that is realistic and doable for me. I’ve lost 7 pounds, not a lot but at least I’ve lost.
On a sad note I seriously have shoes older than my trainer.

Good morning. Even though I'm retired, I decided to take a mental health day yesterday. I drove back to SW Michigan, where my early years were spent. Along the way, I stopped at an area with parking along the Lake and watched the big waves roll in. There's something about watching them and hearing them crashing that is so soothing. I also walked the beach and picked up a handful of tumbled beach glass, including a large lavender piece (rare to find). After, I watched as several large drag boats passed by on trailers, following the drag boat races that were supposed to be held over the weekend. (They did race on Saturday, but called it after several incidents caused by huge waves, but the race was called for Sunday, because conditions had worsened.) After, I headed to several of my favorite farm stands and got fresh produce -- a quart of peaches, a pint of fresh-picked blueberries, green peppers, a couple of onions, banana peppers, zucchini, red potatoes, freshly picked corn on the cob, summer squash, garlic, and a cantaloupe. I then stopped at a favorite lunch stop and lastly went to a winery that has some sentimental meaning. I grabbed a great bottle of pinot grigio and a glass and spent about 2 hours on their covered deck, relaxing, contemplating life, and thinking forward thoughts. On my way home, I stopped back at the beach and took another short walk -- no beach glass this time, but the waves were music to my ears and soothing for my soul. Let's see how long this feeling lasts.

My brother worked at the Pepperidge Farm factory in high school. We got the damaged packages too.

I will keep up with eating well. I just need to have my pity party every now and then.

Don't tell the trainer. LOL! The trainer may be upset. In all seriousness, if your feet hurt, it's worth investing in yourself with a good pair of sneakers.

Perfect! I do that sometimes too. Wander the mall, eat at the food court - which has outside seating - and just sit and read for a while - or stare into space - whatever is appropriate.

Don’t worry, my everyday/ dress shoes are old. My training shoes are always kept up to date, recommended by physical therapy, based on my gait analysis. I would never do any training in a Kohls, etc type gym shoe. Former runner here who spent months in physical therapy.
