I came on to share my progress and didn't find a posting for April, so I thought I'd jump in. I'm just super excited to finally have some time to do this, so I wanted to share. I had all this picked up Monday and even have more to go now. IT feels good too look around and just have some of the extra crud gone!

Yes!!! That is awesome Michelle. I know that feeling. This month has been horrible for me for decluttering. Family life has taken over the digital decluttering time. I hope to get to something this week.

Good for you!! I took a lamp and a full length BIG mirror...as well as 2 boxes of books yesterday. We are purging my brother storage shed FINALLY after 8 years, so I'm going to have ALOT of trips this year. I told him I'm going to gain some muscle carrying all these boxes in and out.

I took a small box to donation place and I also helped out a friend and went to pick up her big box and garbage bag of donations! Woot!

I went through my closet and dresser today. Trashed a couple shirts that were stained or ripped that I could not mend, a bunch of socks that were worn thin and ripping. Packed up a bag of clothes for donations.

I have a box to go to Goodwill. Even DD decluttered some tops from her closet.

I am a little behind in the decluttering. Will try and sort through the spare room today. DH did put a coffee mug into the trash so I suppose that is something.

So my brother has a horrible habit of keeping things....border line hoarding actually. 2 things I said gave him perspective this month. One I told him, we're old enough now that us keeping things will only make it harder on my daughter later and it's not fair for her to have to deal with our clutter and STUFF....secondly, although I'm not a BIG fan of Marie Kondo's method, I do like the question "Does it Bring You Joy?" He's going in for his 4th spinal surgery Thursday and we have to get his room in better shape for when he comes home. He's given me so many things this week and told me you said if it doesn't give me joy I need to get rid of it...So this doesn't give me joy all the time...here you go! Literally I think it really gives him a new perspective to think about. I'm actually pretty proud of him for letting go. We have a whole storage shed to sort, so hopefully after recovery it all sticks and we can make a dent!

Sorted through all the DrillDance stuff in the spare room yesterday and tossed a fair bit. The rest is organised.

Michelle, best wishes your brother

Do child moving out count as decluttering?
You better believe it. I would give him a date to pick up the rest of his things and if he doesn't let him know it will be blessing someone at the thrift store. You so deserve to use his room the way you desire.

MissJoDee - yes!! but they leave things behind. DS moved in December but still has a few things here. Everytime I go I bring some stuff over ;)

I washed and reorganized food cabinet on main floor.. so I,ll be using up some stuff that was older in there... and I broke a nice candy dish I had received as a gift (but couldn't get rid of because it was a gift)... so I guess that counts as decluttering.
