Boy its been awhile since I worked on my personal life goals....so in August....back on track!!

August Personal Life Goals

Marriage:
[ ] Work toward daily sharing of day's events
[ ] Develop a common interest....hmmm this might be hard

Family:
[ ]August 1-20 spend some one on one time daily or do something special for
[ ]Create Kelsey's FIRST 30 Days of College Survival Basket (with 30 smallish gifts)

Friends:
[ ] Continue Margarita Thursdays

Self:
[ ] Get more sleep
[ ] Get pedicure
[ ] Journal MORE

Home:
[ ] Continue Daily Routines
[ ] Theme Days...do them...Move it Out Monday etc.

Work:
[ ]Set up new office
[ ]Establish paperwork for at-risk/Care Team

Hobbies:
[ ] Work on Christmas craft gifts (Initials)
[ ] Finish 6 x 6 Recipe book

Spiritual:
[ ]Pray daily

That's about it for August. I strongly encourage you to try monthly goal setting. Even when I don't accomplish everything...it gives me focus. I've missed it the past few months and I think my focus has suffered as a result.

Thanks a lot for this reminder!!! :applause:
I started to think about my personal life goals in August immediately after reading your post!

So these are my goals:

- continue working on my quilt
- continue with some (already started) crafts
- practicing yoga also at home on a daily basis (instead of once a week in a lesson)
- read 2 books
- collecting and writing down ideas for fall/halloween and christmas decoration
- create plans for christmas and halloween preparation
- practicing sports

I was going good for a long while but then summer hit and I skipped July. Now that everything is settling down again, i'll be back to doing my goals as well.

Marriage:
* Work on communication. Being long distance is extremely hard and takes alot of work.
* Send packages more regularly.

Family:
* Visit the library weekly until school starts.
* Find fun activities to do with the kids.
* Work on having more patience.

Friends:
* Get in touch with friend in Hawaii and friend in Texas.
* Make plans with friend in Columbia.
* Send baby gift to both out of state friends.

Self:
* Start exercising again (besides Wii Fit).
* Drink more water. I actually bought a special jug just to accomplish this.
* Eat more veggies and fruit.
* Work on "me" journal.
* Do something just for me (manicure or pedicure or see a movie)

Home:
* Maintain living room area and garage.
* Continue clearing clutter.

School:
* Only 2-3 classes left before graduation! Give 100% in all my classes.
* DON'T PROCRASTINATE!

Hobbies:
* Make at least one altered clipboard and post-it-note stand.
* Read as much as possible between semesters and when homework is completed.
* Sew something.....anything. I would like to work on Christmas gifts like holiday hand towels.

Spiritual:
* Start meditating.
* Practice yoga.
* Work on tarot readings.

I haven't done this for a few months. I definitely accomplish more when I have it written down like this!

marriage: Get out fishing, just the two of us, while the weather is still good.

family: Plan and have a family picnic for my side of the family. Also help my nieces plan surprise 50th birthday party for my sister-in-law.

friends: Best friend is moving to Ohio so I want to spend some time with her while I still can

self: Need to get out walking more. Maybe dig out my rollerblades and get a little excersize on them too.

home: Get everything back in order after our two week summer vacation in Canada.

hobbies: Check a few more books off my reading list. Work on my celebrate me scrapbook.

spiritual: Finish Beth Moore Stepping up study, continue with daily devotional and prayer journaling.

I'm glad to see this. I also need to get back on track, with school starting and summer winding down, it's time to start developing some new/old habits!

Marriage:
Make sure to communicate everyday. Work hard at this.

Family:
Host the family breakfast on August 17
Take the boys, individually, school clothes/supply shopping

Friends:
Invite friends for dinner just before school starts for a back to school celebration (both women in our "group" work in the schools, so they'll be getting back to work as well)

Self:
Continue walking every day
Drink more water
Eat better-stop snacking on cookies

Home:
Finish all my projects already started-accessorize master bedroom, paint laundry room walls, shelves and cabinets...finish organizing
Strip wallpaper border in boys' bathroom, paint walls and cabinets; put in new shower curtain and accessories
Daily chores on rest of house

Work:
book shows, order supplies and new catalogs

Spiritual:
work on last Sunday school lessons
Youth group leader retreat August 22-23
find and work on a daily Bible study for personal growth

Hobbies:
get some!

Great topic! We have only recently gotten both a laptop and DSL, and I am back burning up the MHH website-- :-D , so I have been slack..lots of great ideas though! ESPECIALLY like the magarita thurs...Mostly for me August is back to school for daughter, and husband-band teacher-so organizing is high on the list..also getting the Christmas notebook in shape...I have also picked up my knitting again, want to keep at it..gonna keep it simple, and high fives for the great motivation!!

I just read over this thread. For me, this is a real mental "exercise" . And I thank you, Gingerbug, for encouraging us to add this way of thinking to our lives. :grouphug:
