Just picked up whole chickens for $4.50 a kilo. DH will segment them and put the pieces in the freezer. Will use them for casseroles over the next few weeks while it is still cool.

We still have the rest of July and August as Winter, Spring starts on September first. Over the next few weeks I will gradually empty the freezers and stockpile of Winter foods (soups, curries etc) and start stocking up on Spring/Summer foods. We eat very differently in the warmer months.

The coffee I have used for years now- Cafe Bustelo.
The reason I started getting it was it was a bit on the less expensive side.

I get the vacuum packed "bricks."
One brick used to be about $3.00.
Now, at Wal-mart (the cheapest place), they are $5.92!
Almost double in price.

I wonder how the tariffs will affect grocery prices?

We get the yellow brick (Cafe El Morro at Aldi for $2.89. I don't drink coffee, so I can't tell you how it tastes. DH doesn't mind it. He drinks 2 cups a day.

I think they carry that brand at dollar tree. Not sure about the price since they have completely screwed the store up. Hardly shop there anymore.

The coffee that we buy has also nearly doubled in price. We don't drink a lot but it all adds up.

I'm going to stock up a bit on coffee since DH has been drinking it. Also, possibly EVOO

Jody- I'll have to look for the Cafe El Morro.
We do not have Aldi's....

Amelia- Dollar General sells the "small" bricks and I have gotten it there.
I will have to look at Dollar Tree next time I go.

Lucie- That's crazy!
Halimer- Stocking up on Olive Oil- Good Idea! What brand/type do you like?
I never know what to get when it comes to olive oil.

I'm a bit worried about this as well. It is hard enough to meet the budget without worrying about further increases

I too get Aldi's coffee and sometimes the Cafe Bustelo. And prices have dropped at Aldi's here.

Bought 15 lbs chicken wings for 1.49/lb. Have not seen them at that price for a long long time. Been watching for chicken tenderloins for a decent price. Can’t stomach the idea of buying regular chicken breast since we had those gross rubbery things last year.

One month ago DH coffee had gone up from $3.89 to $4.00. When I checked on Friday it is now $5.00. That is a huge jump in a month.

I will be checking next week ... my Aldi's has had the ground coffee at $4.59.

They have reduced a lot of prices, actually.
