I am planning a complete overhaul of my christmas decorating this year for outside and small changes for inside......Ouside i have a 1.1m Arkendale stag for the front of the house...I missed out on the 1.8m Arkendale stag last year but i defo will get it at the end of the year sales for next christmas...I also have 2 new outdoor snowmen for this year....As for inside each window will have a complete change as i am changing from coioured lights around each window too white cluster lights.
Oh I’m going to need to see pictures of that once it’s completed! Sounds wonderful!

I wholeheartedly agree with investing in good ribbon. I bought 20 yards of double faced red satin ribbon during Covid when I had to order it online and paid what I thought was really big bucks for it. However, I have used it every Christmas since 2020 either inside or out and it is still gorgeous. I honestly cannot tell which has been outside and which has been inside. And we typically have a lot of rain in December so that saying something!! I would love to find some pretty green satin ribbon just like it. It’s not wired, but it is double face so it makes gorgeous bows.
I love hearing all your plans and details!! Don’t stop now!!

Folks, I am to the point where the tree down there stays up all year long. I just unplug it, take up the tree skirt, and cover it with old sheets.
Every year, I debate whether to clean out our walk-in closet in the hallway and just wheel the main tree in there. I love decorating it, but it's such a production! It would be so nice to wheel it away, and wheel it out for the holiday season!

You may want to look at the Craig Bachman site -- https://craigbachman.com/. They are a resource primarily for people who do commercial decorating (office buildings, etc.), including for Christmas and other holidays. Their warehouse about 5 miles from where I live. Twice a year they have a warehouse sale that is open to the public -- some great deals, but often an eclectic selection of samples. They always have a huge selection of ribbon spools, though, and I've picked up some really nice ones.

How’s the decor planning coming?

I plan to work on this today. I’ve been into my Christmas stash doing a bunch of purging and getting things ready for Christmas in July at my flea market booth. I have decided that my newest style is clean, concise but festive. I like having everything in the house rather than in our storage building so that I can get my hands on it as I need it so I’m working towards that with this purge. I have a good idea how I’m going to decorate my kitchen and living room. I’m going for simple but elegant. We shall see!

I’ve been thinking about decorating for Fall and Christmas. My goal is to create a festive atmosphere without it looking like the holidays have taken over. I feel good about how I’ve balanced the rest of the holidays. The challenge I’m facing is with the mantel, shelves, and other flat surfaces. I plan to focus on decorating the kitchen, the living room, and the hallway that’s visible from the living room. Some other rooms might have a token holiday item, but that will be minimal.

Lucie, has some great tips she shared on her blog. https://luludou.blogspot.com

I'm sort of working toward the same goal. Last year, we bought three storage cabinets that sit under our carport. My idea is to get the seasonal decorations in them so I don't have to put them in the storage shed. I plan a big purge for the fall.

Everything I have taken to the flea market is from inside the house. I have not even begun on the things in the storage building. Even though it is going to be brutally hot next week, I am planning to get at least one tote out. I am specifically looking for a couple of items that I haven’t seen in a while. One thing I want to find is a mercury glass Santa. He is beautiful and I want to display him this year. I am also looking for some purple glass ornaments that I bought several years ago that I want to use in our primary suite.

Seeing your posts about scaling back, eliminating decor you don't use, and streamlining both decorating and storage has given me a shove in the right direction, as this will definitely be a scaled down Christmas this year. Thank you!!!!

This will be our first Christmas in this house. I am pretty certain that we will be spending Christmas away so will be doing very minimal decorating here. I am thinking that if this will be on going I can potentially cull quite a few items. Not sure yet.

How’s everyone’s decorating plans going? As I mentioned on another thread, my Bestie and her husband brought me several boxes of Christmas decorations to consign to my shop. I went through them and chose a few things to keep which of course I will pay them for. Included in this was several boxes of vintage glass ornaments. I went through them and picked out my three favorite boxes to keep and to use on my kitchen tree. I have made vintage inspired paper ornaments for it and I think the colorful glass balls will be very pretty.
I can’t wait to hear what you’re all planning to do for your decor!! It’s almost time!!

I have bought a 2 foot pre lit tree and tree skirt for this year. It is tiny but just what we need seeing as though we won't actually be here for Christmas.
