Alternative Advent calendar ideas - the only thing I can think of is the Jesse Tree but I really don't know much about them. RAKs could go here as well. Anything else?

I have a binder that I put together years ago - along with a group of ladies at church. We titled it "Twenty Four Days 'Til Christmas." Each day has a cute picture (these happen to be Precious Moments kids) along with a scripture, a Christmas song, and a short story - each page in a page protector. I have seen similar things on Pinterest.

RAKs are a great way of celebrating.
Mum and I have decided to make up care packages again this year to take to a local charity that helps refugees. We are adding a bit more this year and have decided to also donate non perishable foods to the same charity.
We donate to the Christmas tree at KMart.

I would like to come up with some more ideas, pay for someones meal, pay for someones fine at the library, etc. Will be looking for other ideas as we get closer to Christmas.

This idea could be translated to a Christmas countdown by filling with items of choice.
