Color Theme

Coordinating colors that complement your everyday items simplifies the process by eliminating guesswork and creating a more polished appearance. Color also serves as a means of expressing your personality.

I am very much a traditionalist when it comes to my Christmas colors. My living area is neutral with green and pink accents. It is easy to swap out my pillow cushions for the deep red, green, and white. My metal accent color is gold. In recent years I have been transitioning the decor to a rustic theme using a deep red and less white.

I love the white, silver, and icy blue in the link. I don't really have a color theme here, but I do prefer white lights, although we do use both white and multi-color. Our ornaments are all homemade or from places we've been, etc. I also like red, white, and silver. My preferred metal is silver or bronze/copper.

LR is blue so for winter and Hanukkah I use blue, silver and white ornaments.

For Christmas, which is usually later than Hanukkah, I take away most of the blue and add the red and white. and green. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to colors.

I used to have a tree with white lights and red and silver ornaments. Very pretty, but I felt stifled in decorating it. Now it's my horse/farm tree. I also have a nature tree. Those two use white lights. Then I have a big tree downstairs full of ornaments thru the years in all colors and on that I like colored lights, preferably twinkles. As a kid I used to lay under the tree and watch the light show on the ceiling. I still love the twinkling lights. My house is blues and browns, but at Christmas I change accents to reds, with a nice dose of buffalo plaid.

I don't have a particular colour scheme. My tree is a chaos of different colours and decorations of all sorts. Some of them are very sentimental and others I generally just pick what I like.
My home decor is a little more traditional, greens, reds and whites.

Now that I'm older and my child is an adult, no GKs, I've gone with a more refined Christmas tree and other decor. My living room couch is neutral (beige, tan, black tweed-like material) with gold and black accent pillows. I swap the pillow covers for red ones -- snowflakes and reindeer. My tree has white lights and I use gold and silver garland and red ornaments, with shiny gold and silver for added reflection. There are some sentimental ornaments sprinkled in, as well. The tree skirt is all red, or I may alternate with one that is red with gold applique swirls. In my family room, done in navy blues, I swap out pillow covers for blue snowflakes, and have a smaller tree with white hand-crocheted snowflakes, all made by my DM. Each space comes out cohesive, but has a different feel -- more formal in the Living Room, and casual warmth in the Family Room.

This is our tree as well! Lots of what the kiddos made over the years, although, DD34 did take some with her to VT. But I get to see them again when she sends my photos of her Christmas time decor. :)

Our tree is usually reds, blues, whites and silvers. We get an 8-10 ft. tree. We use store bought ornaments and the ones that the children made and/or received. We use white lights too.

Dh preferred tiny white twinkle lights with silver balls, snowflakes, and crocheted white angels…a very calm & peaceful feeling. I like colored lights with candies and toys and all the homemade ornaments…joyous and excited feelings. In our later years we compromised by alternating themes - one year his whites and the following year my colors.
