CIJ Day 9: Share your favourite movie experience, does not have to be a Christmas movie.

Disney’s The Kid. Starring Bruce Willis, Spencer Breslin and Lily Tomlin Rated PG 2000

An unhappy, disliked image consultant gets a second shot at life when he is mysteriously confronted by an 8 year old version of himself.

My kids got this for Christmas one year and it is a movie that we have enjoyed watching over and over again. It is not a Christmas movie but it is one that is easy to watch and enjoyed with a bowl of popcorn and a cool drink.

“Scrooge,” the musical with Albert Finney. When dh and I began dating in high school in 1970, he took me to see “Scrooge” at a posh movie theater in Hollywood in California (we lived somewhat close to Hollywood). When the movie came out on VHS in the 80’s we rented it several times, and when it was available to buy we paid $50 for it! We watched it every year, bought it on DVD, and we continued to watch it every year. I still watch it every year.

What a great story! And I remember paying those crazy amounts for VHS movies back then.
We love A Christmas Story. We play it non stop Christmas morning while we are opening gifts. I think that started when we were first married they started the 24 hour run of it on tv. Reminds us what it was like growing up. We went to the opening day of the Christmas story house in Cleveland. Was fun going through the house and museum and talking with some of the actors.

There isn't any Christmas movie that I have to see annually. I think part of it is being so busy in December that it doesn't enter my mind. Over the years I have thought about going to the special breakfast showings of Christmas movies at the theatre. The timing hasn't worked out.

My Absolute favorite Christmas movie is White Christmas, top favorite non Christmas Movie Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

A non-Christmas movie favorite is Grease! because it was where my late DH and I went on our first date. The early show was sold out, so we went and had appetizers and drinks, and then went to the late show. Almost a year to the date after, we were married -- first date on June 26th, married the following year on June 23rd.

DH's birthday always fell around Thanksgiving and as a young child, DD wanted to take him to the movies for his birthday. As most parents know, there's almost always an animated flick released over Thanksgiving. To this day, DD and I (and sometimes DSIL) will take in a Disney, Pixar, or other movie to continue to celebrate his birthday.

When it comes to Christmas movies, the last few years I've made a list of 30 Christmas movies I'd like to watch. I'll try to watch one a day between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Some are the classics, others are ones I've grown up with, plus some of the sappy Hallmark movies. (I have a similar running list of Autumn-themed movies and do the same during the Holiday Grand Plan, using the list as a reward for completing my big task for the day.)

I love A Charlie Brown Christmas. Funny, as a kid I didn't care for it, but as an adult I appreciate it more.
There are a few hallmark movies that I like but I'm not a huge fan.
I like White Christmas, Christmas Vacation, Desk Set. On YouTube you can watch the 1969 I think Dean Martin Christmas Show where his guests are his family, Frank Sinatra and his kids. Very cool.

My all time favorite is "A Christmas Story."
When they play it 24/7 on Christmas Eve and Day, I check on it here and there to see where they are at.

I'm like Mary and December gets so crazy that I don't have time to sit and watch.
If I'm lucky, I may sit and watch a Hallmark movie.

I take the first week of January and 4 four nights, I watch a movie. They are same every year.

* The Family Stone
* A Christmas Story
* Christmas Vacation
* I'll be Home for Christmas

After that I feel, "The holidays are complete."

Like @AnnieClaus my all time favorite is "A Christmas Story". We always watch it as a family and order Chinese Takeout for dinner. Great memory with my kiddos.

I enjoy "Elf". It reminds me of my days with my six graders, who I taught twice. It came out that year and they were crazy over it!

My favorite non-Christmas movie memory is The Wizard of Oz. When I was a child it would show on TV once a year. I would always go to my Grandma's house and watch it with her and then I'd stay the night. I remember sitting on her living room floor while she was on her rocking recliner in her foyer. She could see the tv through the archway and still keep an eye on things going on outside her door. Sweet times.

Some wonderful stories here. Movies can really be nostalgic can't they?
The first movie DH and I saw together was Top Gun. Still one of my favourites to this day and one I can watch over and over.

I may be wrong but the first movie we saw together I think was Grease. Allen isn't a movie goer.

I like basically all Christmas movies. Not any I have to watch every year.

This is Josh's all time favorite movie! Saw it when he was 4. Knows all the dialog and we paid a ridiculous price when it first came out on tape.

I have to watch Elf, Christmas vacation and A christmas story every year, love these.

My other not-quite Christmas movie of all times is You've got mail... I don't know i just LOVE that movie.

@Myron's Mom What a fun story. I actually have never seen that movie all the way from beginning to end. LOL I have seen lots of parts.
@Minta My DH will watch White Christmas every Christmas. It's the ONLY musical he will watch.

@AnnieClaus @teachermomof2 Two other movies I have never seen from beginning to end is Christmas Vacation and Elf ... but have seen enough parts that I know the movies. LOL DS likes us to watch I'll Be Home for Christmas and also Are We There Yet?

When the kiddos were little, we would watch the stop motion movie I grew up on and had the DVD's like Rudolph, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and The Year Without a Santa Claus. We like them all ... Home Alone, Tim Allen's The Santa Clause, The Preacher's Wife (and the first one The Bishop's Wife), Christmas with the Kranks ... and as I said above - The Muppets Christmas Carol and White Christmas.

Non-Christmas movie would be Singing in the Rain.
