Now that we have our tree up and in place, it is time to decorate. The next three days, we will look at three different styles of decorating.

Today, we will start with Minimalist Style
Minimal Christmas decorating creates an impactful, calm, and cozy atmosphere by reducing visual clutter during what can be a hectic holiday season. Pretty in its own way. But so not me and my decorating style!

Yes, I think it's very pretty and would enjoy say a vacation lodge or resort with it, but it's not the way I decorate at home. DD, in VT, has adopted the Tree Only look in her house. She cuts down a tree from her property. The decorations she took with her when she moved, she places around on the mantel and shelves.

I love this! Last year we only had lights on our tree. I never got around to putting the ornaments on and, honestly, was afraid the animals would knock them off or eat them. So it just wasn't a priority.

Love some of mantels (do not have one), tree on wall is cute and that one table setting. As for the trees--- I like alot more on. Even tho some one those were very pretty in the setting.

That is what helps make the season so magical----all the different styles of decorating.

I'm not sure what my decorating style is for the Christmas season. Over the years, I think I've moved toward a more minimalistic tree -- a small gold/silver garland and primarily red, gold, and silver ornaments, with a few special ornaments mixed in. This is going to be interesting. Thanks!

I'm a fan of clutter and "stuff" so I could never do minimalist.

One year growing up my mom wanted to do just lights.

I like the minimalist trees for "extra" trees.
Say, small trees with little white lights.

The year before we moved we did just hang lights on the tree and it was so pretty, I really liked it. Not my usual style but I did love the simplicity of it all.

The minimalist trees are beautiful but lack the character that comes with a lifetime of ornaments, each with a memory attached. Like the goofy looking ones kids make.
That said, they're quite pretty.

I did just lights the year I got Riley. I wasn't sure how he'd be around the tree and I didn't want any ornaments broken so I didn't put any on it.

I have enjoyed my tree several times with just the lights on it. I have a trees with their light already on it now but in the past the guys carried my tree to the basement without taking it apart so I would not have to take the lights off. Was after I injured both arms and they were swollen and sore for a very long time. I know at least once since we moved here I never got around to decorations, so just the lights. It is beautiful early in the morning with a cup of coffee and before anyone else is up.

Very pretty and trying to get less up... but just have so many ornaments with feelings attached to them.

I find the minimalist tree very calming. I decorated that way when I was single. My brother's family decorates their real tree in the minimalist style. There are no store bought ornaments. Just the ones the kids made at school. I think they are too busy to decorate for Christmas.

I simplified my tree one year since I don't like putting the ornaments on and taking them off. I needed an alternative that would not take up much storage space (otherwise I would have chosen red bows). We're empty nesters, so if we're not having family home for Christmas, we don't usually even put up the tree. I have so much other decor (not minimalist). Here's my minimalist tree, though. Colored lights, silver bow topper with ribbon falls, silver glittered snowflakes...using the white lights might have made it look even more minimalist.
