Today's thread is all about gift ideas. Please post one cute gift idea you have made/used/or found on the internet. You can post a picture if you wish or a link to a picture or to the site ...Thanks! Respect copyright and provide a link to the source please. It's easier that way anyway so we can read the directions etc.

You can find the directions and printables:

I don't have a photo but my husband made fleece blankets and pillowcases for our two nephews one year. He's the sew-er in the family since he's Navy and does all his uniforms (thank you Lord for sending me a man who can sew because I am useless at it!). We bought San Francisco 49er fleece for one and solar system fleece for the other. He hemmed the blankets although you could do the snip the edges and tie them off if you like, and he made the pillowcases like an envelope so you could slip them off the pillow form to wash them.

The boys loved them and took them in the car when they went out, or just snuggled up with them in the house. Our daughter liked the idea so much that she asked for a set as well so we pick up some leopard fur-like fabric for her.

Great gift idea and there are so many awesome fleece patterns out there, you can really personalize it.

Cute and simple bunny softie made from a recycled T-shirt

Birdseed Wreath...vary the ribbon color if desires to make it more festive, although burlap is a cheap and classic option. Gift to someone who already makes a habit of feeding birds - they'll love it!

For a new mother, closet clothing size dividers to help her keep all the clothes for the little one organized! I made my own out of index cards but boy would I have loved a set of these! This tutorial uses wooden letter O’s from a craft store that have to be but to allow them to fit over the clothing rod. Another idea might be to cut shapes from sturdy cardboard and then cover…

Fabric Wrapped Hangers…I’ve made 3 sets of these for gifts this year. Easy! Repurpose fabric! I added onto this idea by hot gluing pretty fabric or felt flowers along with bits of ribbon and tulle to the hangers as well.

Braided Sweater Scarf with Pom Poms – I want one of these for ME! Just waiting to find the right sweater at a thrift store to repurpose!

Ear Warmers from repurposed fleece (and other warm fabric) clothing! I’m make some for gifts and for me this year!

AH-mazing post on making children’s aprons (and some cute throw pillows) from clearance dishtowels and placemats! Makes me keep an eye on those sale end cap areas at the store, let me tell you!!!

For somebody that misses/loves summer – or for an idea for our board members in the Southern Hemisphere – here is a great link to DIY Citronella Candles! Vary the jar decoration elements to taste! The key point here is that these will actually work – unlike the products in stores (at least here in the US) that only have the SCENT of citronella versus the actual essential oil

There are some of my favorite gift ideas on my Pinterest Board:

I love the pillow mats for the kids. The cookbook wrapped in a dish towel idea is great for newlyweds. Personalized candles are perfect for everyone.

Here's another idea - Wine Charms. My daughter made this set for her 4-H leader last year.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/thethreecs/7508088420/in/photostream

The card is a regular index card with a watermarked background design (found it through Microsoft Word Clip Art) and the header and footer wording. We slipped the charms through hole-punched holes, popped the card into a plastic pocket (available at Michael's in the scrapbook section - look for memorabilia pockets) and ran a ribbon at the top so that the whole thing could be slipped over the neck of a wine bottle.

Her leader liked the set so much that she commissioned Sophia to make a set for her to have on hand for a Rhode Island gift basket she is putting together for an upcoming horse council event that will be held in New England this year. Sophia used a lighthouse, sand dollar, starfish, sailboat, and a horse. We purchased the charms at Michael's.

Here's a link for making the charms:

The wire loops are also available at Michael's, in the beading/jewelry making section. Sophia used a crimp bead at the ends of the glass beads and charms layout as it stops the beads from sliding around.

I don't have a photo but I'm making bookmarks for everyone out of my dear FIL's neckties. DH and the DKS took the ones they wanted and now I'm making bookmarks for the family from the rest. Pop was a great reader and I know this is a good thing.
