ok so I've gotten this bright idea to have all Christmas sweets as my theme--candy stuff and gingerbread men
I'm looking for some help in brainstorming some decoration ideas for inside and outside.

I'm going to make the large wrapped candies with lights for outside and maybe some giant glittery lollipops from wood cut outs--

what else can I do and buy for my theme :)

You could get some cheap dowels in different diameters, cut them , spray paint/paint them to look like old fashioned stick candy.

Also you could get striped grosgrain type ribbon and thread it together to make ribbon candy. I have seen directions for this one somewhere - they used little beads as spacers and made ornaments- maybe check Carol Duval Show archives or Martha Stewart. They were really cute and simple to make.

Make something to look like gold foil wrapped Chocolate coins? Circles of styrofoam or board wrapped with gold foil of some kind?

Fun them to play with!

Great idea - thats what I want too!

I'm having one tree with only canes on - and intend to make banners of gingerbreadmen.

Not going in for the big stuff outside but the red/white ribbon theme sounds great.

Have seen an ite on making a tower of candy sweets
http://www.bhg.com/holidays/christmas/trees/easy-tabletop-christmas-trees/?page=22
- and the idea of wrapping balls in wither coloured paper or material would make a great banner.

I bought stacks of elft over candy canes after christmas specifically to use on the tree - you oculd also add red and white baubles.

I also want to do a christmas village with little houses and perhaps a gingerbread house (also want to do an igloo out of sugar cubes!).

Great Idea :applause:

I wish i had some ideas to offer but i haven't yet.

I'm thinking of decorating my kitchen for the first time this year (Christmas Decorating!) and was thinking of candy canes and Gingerbread Men.

For the tree get lollipop sticks and a small foam ball and push onto stick and then cut a circle of material big enough to cover ball and come down alittle around the stick and tie off with a small bow of ribbon. Attach a hanger. Don't have exact sizes handy.
Have made several of these in the past.

Also I have seen this year the lollipops made from yo-yos and I think I will try these. Here is a site that I saw them on. She has other Christmas type ideals too.

WOWSA some fantastic ideas!!!! I'm hoping to "convince" someone that I need a wood gingerbread house built for the yard that I can paint and put up for the holidays outside too!

Love that site too! Those gumdrop ornaments are awesome!

If you spray any hard candy like starmints and lollipops and stick candy with clear acrylic sealer they will last for at least a few years. Two or three coats do it.

For an inexpensive decoration I use gift bags (not the bigger ones) all over the house. You can just about find any theme and have the ribbons and fun stuff spilling out the top. I even use poster putty to stick them up on the wall. They also look good on the toilet tank or as a kitchen counter decoration.
