CIJ Day 13- Put it On The Tree

How many of us enter crafts and foods into our county fairs? Or maybe have had children involved in 4-H and FFA and the like? What do you do with all those ribbons? They are great memories and fun times and so .... decorate a tree! Make a wreath!



When my mom moved us to Florida Christmas of 1977, and I started a new school come January of 1978, I found out there was an FFA program. I had always LOVED the outdoors growing up on our parent's campground in Ohio. I participated in FFA all through high school. Later in life married with kids, I did enjoy entering crafts into our county fair. And our two kids grew up members of 4-H groups and also had fun earning ribbons for all sorts of things. I can't say I ever made anything out of the ribbons ... had I known about Pinterest then, eh!!!???!!!

Thanks for sharing! In the video, I kind of like the cone trees. That would be good for adding holiday decoration to rooms that typically don't get much decoration. Bathroom counter for a holiday gathering? Maybe do one with mesh or glued red or green string and stuffed with potpourri? It got my creative juices flowing ...

There are some good jumping off points in the video. I like the idea of making the cone trees to reflect the winter look for use as a transition from Christmas to winter to Spring.

Oh my goodness, what a fabulous idea! I have a whole tub of Sophia's horse show ribbons, she is going to be tickled when she comes home for Christmas and finds a tree decorated with them. Thank you for this great idea!

Katrina.......I do not think of myself as creative either, so i decorate very simply with what I have.......I like to scrapbook and I am very good at "scraplifting".......

Oh, I may just do those cone trees for the bathrooms and bedrooms that I don't normally decorate, but it would be nice to have a little cheer in every room you walk in. @Miss JoDee It is a good jumping off point! Hmmmm ... thinking. @PamelaG That ribbon tree WILL be nice for sure. Maybe post a pic in December.

I've done a styro cone tree with metallic ribbon around it and the ornaments were pins with round ends (all different colors)... still have it after many, many years.
I love small trees in all nooks and crannys

I love the idea of putting the ribbons on the tree, my husband is a giant pumpkin grower, he has so many ribbons. I may just put a small tree up in his office and decorate it with a few of his more important ribbons. Such a great idea!

I like how she created a tree on her wall with lights and light weight decorations. I think that's a great idea for someone who wants a bit of festivity but doesn't have a tree.
