My DD did something similar for me last Christmas. She had taken a picture of DGS & me at Myrtle Beach, standing in the ocean. She cut the picture with a circle punch, put some sand in the ornament, and the picture in it. Then she put it on a stand. I love it. One of my most prized possessions.

I like the idea of putting sand from a beach in it. Makes a great memory.

Dirt from a childhood house with a photo of the house would make a nice memory.

Fake snow and a photo of the kids first sled or their skates.

We did one as a church activity and had a pictures of Jesus Christ printed on a piece of velum. It was farely see through and very beautiful.
