I think I am going to make 2 kits...one for each family with small kids in our family and will give it to them before Christmas as part of their christmas gifts from us.

Perhaps not exactly the same thing, but it makes me think that a SMALL batch of cookie making (single type, single or even half amount of dough), might be a great way to distract littlies in the afternoon on Christmas Eve. As they are making them for the Man in Red themselves for that night - and might even get a treat of one themselves before bed!!

Thank you for sparking this idea for me TeacherMomof2 - I think I now have something planned for keeping DD occupied that afternoon when a little slump can sometimes happen!

If you want to simplify the prep on Christmas eve...I highly recommend the Pillsbury rolled sugar cookie dough. Easy to use and easy clean-up. The gingerbread is also quite good. That way you can spend the time just cutting out the shapes & decorating them!
