Last week was productive. The weekly reflections are good for me. My major focus for the month is the basement declutter sessions. I'm trying to find harmony with that, with general housework and how I'm spending free time.

Weekly
  • Clean Bathrooms.
  • Pay bills -
  • Appts: None
  • Menu Planning
    • Check that ingredients for planned meals are in the house.
    • Make a grocery list.

    • Wipe down cabinets and appliances.
    • Wash floor.
    • Clean Windows.

    • Wipe down wall and door jambs.
  • Do weekly reflection.
    • Staple reflection papers to the planner pages.
  • Declutter basement: Front shelves on left side
  • Write out Valentine’s Day cards and send by Tuesday. UGH! I can not for the life of me find where I put them ever so safely.

This past week was fairly productive. I like my daily and weekly cleaning list. I also have a monthly list and will incorporate that in at the end of the month. I need to start thinking about and working on the areas to start purging before our Household Goods potentially get picked up in early to mid-April. I'll make a list of order I think. I also need to make a list of large items that aren't leaving with us that can be sold or put out with the trash later on.

[X] Pick up Valentines treats for kids and DH
[ ] Organize pantry- toss expired food

[X] Send group text to schedule family book club (Fri)
[X] Read selection/take notes

I didn't get that basket full of stuff to re-home. Must do it today. I did re-home a few things that didn't get put back so rooms look goo now. Caught myself setting things in the sewing/craft room and not putting it where I should so I will have to take care of that today too.

I am going to go through my clothes today and pull out what I don't wear, especially the" just in case" items. They are just taking up space.
I have an expensive accessory (a purse) that was given to me as a gift. It sits and not used. I offered it to my sister and she told me to use it. The reason I don't use it is because I am afraid some one will steal it I see people out an about with theirs's but I find it hard to pull it out of the closet. Am I being goofy? Should I pull it out and use it?

No not goofy at all If you are fearful or even uncomfortable about using it let it go. I always ask the person who gave something if they would like it back before I pass it on or sell it. Remember it is yours and you can do what you want with it.

A number of years ago, my mom received a beautiful black leather pocketbook as a work gift. It wasn't her style. She offered it to me. I loved it and knew it was expensive. I would never spend that money on a pocketbook. I'm too practical. However, if you gift it to me, then we're talking something different. I used it.

If you like it, then I would use it. However, having it sit in your closet looking pretty for you to see and not use, well, then, you may want to think about giving it to a charity that would appreciate it. There are some places like hospitals, that run their own thrift stores. They will run silent auctions on certain expensive donated items. Collectors know about these places so you may want to look into that option.

One of the things I am trying to do lately is the use it or out it goes philosophy.
I have a lovely set of china that DH and I bought for each other for our first 2 or 3 wedding anniversaries 35 years ago. It was not overly expensive but we did have to save up to buy the whole set. It was stored in a cupboard, packed up every time we moved house and never used because it was good!!! My kids had forgotten that we had it.
When we moved to this house we decided to be rid of our everyday dishes and use our wedding china. We have used it every day and have so enjoyed it, it is nice china. I have broken one soup bowl and a pepper shaker but I know if I look at ebay I could probably replace those, if not it will be OK.
The thing is that I am enjoying using it and isn't that why we have nice things???
