For those who can't find dark brown sugar. Just add a bit more molasses to the light brown sugar until you get dark brown sugar.
Also any grocery store that now has a Drive up and GO option (order online and pick up at the store), they usually have addition stock reserved just for these orders.
I don't know about coke but they have the actual Pepsi, Pepsi no sugar and Diet Pepsi syrups. if they're not the real syrups they certainly taste like them.

What do you typically use for cookies you are giving away? I've bought the Rubbermaid containers in the past. They were okay.
I wish I had heeded the stock up on chocolate message. Hershey's kisses are at 5 dollars a bag. I couldn't get over it yesterday. I'm hoping for a sale somewhere soon so I can get what I need for baking. The cost of chocolate chips is crazy too.
Ive always bought the holiday containers at dollar tree and they have held up fine, including a trip or 2 through the dishwasher. We have a couple of great thrift shops that sell them. Selection is pretty slim there right now as people buy them up in November.

$Tree had a good selection in all sizes and Home Goods, etc. has packs of containers that seem to work out to less than a dollar a piece. Ziploc also used to make festive baggies and I have a stock of those but I'm not sure they're still available.
From a DIY perspective you can cover odd boxes with holiday paper and reuse empty jars by taking off the labels and putting holiday stickers on the glass part and adding fabric covers and ribbon to the lid.

I bought several packages of cookie/snack boxes. I think it was like 3 boxes for $1.99. The boxes are a decent size with a clear plastic window on top so people can see what's in the box.
One of our major supermarket has staff from their distribution centres on strike. This means that the supermarkets are not getting any stock and the shelves are bare. I have not been able to get milk for 2 weeks now.
Thankfully the other major supermarket and Aldi are OK with plenty of stock.
I am so pleased that I have completed my Christmas shopping and just need to do a top up.
I guess this is why we all do so much as early as possible. Can not count on any thing being available any more. And if you can find what you are looking for, you can barely afford it.
I know that we were warned about the increase in the price of chocolate but .
I made a note in my planner about the price of cooking chocolate. In January it was $2.75. Yesterday the same block was $4.50. At those prices I will need to reassess a few things for next year. I cannot afford to pay approx $15 to make chocolate bark.
I have double checked everything and I am ready to go. I have done really well this year and have not bought any impulse buys. I really did stick to my list. With the prices of food going up so quickly I will sit with my planner very early in the new year and see where Mum and I may tweak a little the menu for 2025.
I am so tired of the constant disruptions. It seems that nothing has been normal since Covid in 2020.
