It's seven months away, but I'm gathering ideas already.
It's my wedding anniversary on Halloween, and last year it was a bit pants. My youngest daughter and I got really sick the week before Halloween, and it lingered up until the night itself. We didn't put any outdoor decorations up, and didn't hand anything out to trick or treaters.

I want to make up for it this year!

I have a notebook set up for plans and ideas (much like my Christmas one), and I'm seeing if anyone else does similar.

Does anyone have any ideas (big or small) for Halloween this year? Or any general autumn/fall plans?

We are already thinking about what new Halloween decorations we want to buy for this year.

Hoping to have all the Halloween decorations by the beginning of Oct.
My SIL always beings her kids to my house for trick or treating so us ladies walk around with kids while the guys hang back and hand out candy. This year I want to set up a Hotdog bar so everyone can grab something to eat before the fun begins.

I wrote "chilli cheese dogs" in my planner today for food ideas, so I love that you and I have the same vision lol.

Last year was the last time mine went trick or treating (they were 12&13 so it was pushing it a bit). It'll be weird that we won't be doing that this year, but at the same time somewhat of a relief - no walks in the rain! I'll miss seeing the decor and being out in the atmosphere though, so I'm debating whether or not to go for a walk on my own so I can check out people's houses. I don't know if that would be weird though since I won't have kids with me??

I'm thinking about decor too! I'd love to have some little bits of Halloween goodness in the back garden this year. Only we will see it, but I'm wondering what I could do. I'm trying to thrift as much as possible this year so I'll have to keep my eyes open.

Do you do themes for your decor?

My kids will be 19 & 24 this Halloween but my grandson will be 3 and my nephew will be 9. We have a lot of teens in our area that still trick or treat. If they come to our house dressed up in a costume I will give them candy.

Local yard sales and thrift stores are a good place for decorations. I will be checking out local yard sales this spring and summer to see what I can find.

We bought a 9 ft Reaper last year and he is by far my favorite Halloween decor so far. We have a small "cemetery" that I want to expand. I will be ordering more tombstones this spring and plan on getting more purple lights. We always did cute Halloween decor but we recently swung over to the scarier side. I want to paint a pallet black, place a fake skeleton under it with some green and purple lights.

A 9ft tall reaper?! That sounds amazing. I don't have anything like that, but yesterday I did buy from eBay two metal crows. They would look great in a Halloween display, but I think I'll keep them out all year round and move them to a more prominent position come October.

I love that you still accept teenage trick or treaters. We do too: the way I see it, is if they're choosing to get dressed up and go out trick or treating, they deserve something. They could be doing something way worse. Mine have outgrown it - they noticed that all the other trick or treaters last year were young children! They're happy to stay home and watch films now.

To make up for it, I'm doing them a treat bag. So far I've bought them a monster plushy each. Going to add socks, keyrings and sweets.

That reaper looks amazing. I'm trying to picture how tall 10ft is.
Those are really cool ideas, I didn't think of pjs. Thanks
How you seen the coffee mugs that change when you put a hot beverage in them? I’ve seen Halloween themed ones that are plain black then change to ghost/ goblin that looks like it’s trapped in the mug.

Basketball goals are 10 feet tall if that gives you a frame of reference.

These would be amazing, I have never seen them.

Oh, this would be fun to organise. Can you find orange LED sparkle lights? I can just imagine snuggling up on the couch with the loungeroom decorated. My kids would have loved it.

We don't typically do Halloween but there are some amazing ideas here. I'm looking forward to seeing the plans progress.

Thanks for the sparkle lights idea - I didn't think of that, but I bet I can find them somewhere.

I put Halloween planning on the back burner for a couple of weeks, but I've circled back to it. We've got Halloween sprinkles that need to be used by July, so I'm going to use them up in June when we celebrate summerween.

I found a video on YouTube about a Halloween journal, basically a spooky version of a December daily. I didn't save the video, but I'm seriously tempted to have a go at making one!

I leave some fall stuff out all year. From where I am sitting in my LR I can see some small pumpkins in a basket as well as a small, glass Christmas tree.

I also hate the bugs. Flies are so annoying.

Much of my home decor would be classed as Halloween decorations lol. I have some skulls on my mantle piece

I hit the jackpot at the charity shop...
Someone had donated their entire collection of cherished teddies Halloween figures. I'm indifferent to cherished teddies, but I am enthusiastic about the Halloween ones

These are a fun way to do hot dogs for Halloween - Mummy Hot Dogs. I've also picked up Halloween shaped pasta in the holiday section of Lidl or other places like TJ Maxx. It costs more than regular pasta but buying it at a discount store made more bearable to buy. Over the years, we've used the Halloween pasta as a base for pasta salad, macaroni and cheese and just plain pasta with butter. We've added different shape pasta to the Halloween pasta to stretch it out.
