It is our 11th month of the Happiness Project. This month our focus is: Keep a Contented Heart. Corresponding pages: 258-276. Last week we worked on Laughing Out Loud. This week we add: Use Good Manners. Corresponding pages: 264-268.
Gretchen realized she needed to work on her manners after taking a personality test called: The Newcastle Personality Assessor Test.
Gretchen noticed that she often brushed by people as she quickly walked down the sidewalk. And she wasn't the one to offer a seat to someone on the subway or allow someone to go first.
She mostly wanted to work on being more agreeable and kind.
Her biggest problem was in conversations, where she tended to be: argumentative, a no it all and a topper- she always had to top someone's story. This tended to get worse when she drank. Because her husband has Hepatitis C and gave up drinking, Gretchen decided this was the time to give it up too.
In giving up drinking she realized too, that drinking made her sleepy, which in turn, made her rude.
This Week's Resolution: Use Good Manners.
This Week's Thought: "Nothing can make our life, or the lives of other people, more beautiful than perpetual kindness." ~ Leo Tolstoy
