Dsil is a very busy woman and her hubby works a different shift. I was thinking of getting her a crockpot and using it as the base for a "basket" gift. What would you include?

Definitely some easy crock pot recipes, maybe a beef stew mix and a few other mixes that all you have to do is add the stew meat or something simple like that.

Check out the packaged sauces and gravy mixes in the grocery store. They have some now made specifically for crock pots. All you do is add the meat and usually water to the packet. I have personally used one (I think it was French's) for pulled pork and it was delicious.

What a great idea by the way. :applause: I may have to borrow it.

I agree with all the above and would add some basic recipes. Like how to cook a roast or do dry beans in a crock pot. You know the very basic things that can be altered.

BBQ Sauce!!! I buy the cheaper roasts and let them cook in the crockpot all day. The meat gets so tender it just falls apart. Add some BBQ sauce and you have amazing BBQ beef for sandwiches. Yum!! Yum!!

Pot holders or oven mitts would be good as well, those things can get hot.
