JANUARY 1st - 7th PACK AWAY CHRISTMAS....details and tips will be posted to get Christmas 2011 packed away RIGHT!
JANUARY 8th-14th Let's get the Ktichen in Order (This is one of the busiest places during the holidays so let's get it back in shape, store away holiday dishes, and use up some left over ingredients in our menu planning)
JANUARY 15th-21st Make your Bedroom an Oasis....Let's focus on cleaning, decluttering and making our bedrooms warm and cozy for the rest of the winter months!!! (I know some of you are having summer...so you can adjust it
JANUARY 22nd-28th Living Room Options....let's clean and organize either your living room or family room....which ever one serves as the center of family life...Winter is here so let's be able to relax and watch some movies in a clean and calm area of the home!!
JANUARY 29th-February 4th: Organizing the Office (or craft area or even file cabinets or desk...whatever you have that serves as your center for bills, planning etc)
As you can see from the plan I've tried to hit some spots that might make our life a little easier after the hectic holidays....where I live it will be the dead of winter and having a clean, organized cheerful home makes those bitter days inside a bit easier to endure! Call this a one month....approach to the key living areas in your home. Of course you can always substitute if you want.
We start out packing away Christmas 2011....and in another thread we will kick off a Recipe Organizing project.
Next we move to the Kitchen....those lingering Christmas cookies...BE GONE....BUT let's be thrifty and see what left over ingredients we have that we might weave into our menu planning for the rest of the month. That half bag of chopped pecans, that partial bag of marshmallows, or those extra cans of gravy...Let's get them into our menus AND clean the kitchen at the same time!!
After that we will move onto another key but often neglected part of the home...The Master Bedroom....let's get it clean and decluttered....throw away or file those reciepts you have lurking in your underwear drawer. Get rid of clothes that are past their prime. Add some color and warmth to your bedroom with candles and a fluffy throw. Make this a room for relaxing and living in...not just sleeping!!
Next we will tackle the livingroom or family room...your choice. I suggest whichever one you spend the most time in. Time to make some decisions about just how many DVDs you can own and store...yikes...at least thats a problem area for me...We will also dust and re-evaluate what we want this living space to look like now that all the holiday decor storage has left it looking bare and forlorn!
Last but not least we will move on to the Office....Tax season is upon us....do you have a clean space for working? Not just on taxes but menus, bills, crafts, or for journaling. Make your office area a place you WANT to spend time in!!! GEt rid of clutter and add some little things you love...Remember LESS is BETTER!!
Now we certainly haven't hit EVERY area of the home...but we will have really jumped into the new year and made some immediate progress.
