It's Jumpstart January Time! 2025 is HERE!!



Since we were gone over Christmas with the grandparents out of town for a week, I am in no hurry to take down our decor yet. So, I will put off "Christmas Recovery" for a week or so starting mid-month.

As you can see, I am still in my New Year's Eve attire and can't possibly think about cleaning ... yet! LOL

Also, I participated in HGP and HHP last fall and so much of the house is in pretty good shape. Thanks to @Lori K and @Holiday_Mom for hosting those forums. I think de-cluttering of areas will be the BIG focus.


CHRISTMAS RECOVERY - think I will start mid-January or so

I am with you on cleaning up from Christmas. I will do a little at a time but the greenery will stay up longer. I am also on a big decluttering kick. I have a weekly and monthly cleaning plan that I do to keep me on track. I don't like losing the momentum with the house cleaning.

I am with you on "not losing the momentum with the house cleaning"!

For years, we had too much "stuff" and I procrastinating cleaning because it was too much to move around - whether to dust or vacuum. It's so nice being more minimal.

The Minimal Moms says, "Why do you like it when you go to a vacation rental house?" It's the simplicity of seeing less, being able to do with less, easier clean up, etc. It's not that my house looks even close to a minimalistic vacation rental house! LOL But it's way less than years ago. And it's kind of a fun challenge to look at items and think, "Do I need that? Have I used that? Does it bring me JOY?"

This is my goal for 2025.
I want my home to be a peaceful and cozy haven, not a storage unit.
I am quite sentimental so will need to find strategies for dealing with letting things go.

LOL! And that is why I clean the house and have it organized before leaving on vacation. I like coming back home to my "forever vacation home."

Yeah. I am still not starting to de-decorate Christmas yet! LOL

Even though it was nice to vacation with my dad and stepma, missing the week of Christmas at home makes me want to keep the decor up. Not let Christmas end yet. Maybe I am just old and sentimental. LOL .... or lazy!

Now Christmas is over I took out the fur cushion I had, the one I bought a few weeks ago and then added a fluffy cushion cover to the 3rd cushion and they are now in the LR. I got a mini globe lighted string light to add to my decorative lantern and added something that looks a bit like this Green Pine Trees with Wooden Base (the base is tree branches instead of wooden base and there are 6 trees). I'm trying to keep it cozy with my warm white string lights on the mantel and on top of some cabinets as well as corner armoire in kitchen

I just finished undecorating the tree. I have ornaments, lights and garland off. Tree still standing. Will have Allen help with that tonight.

We are surrounded by full packing boxes so the house is a mess. Will start cleaning the empty rooms next week. Most of them will be easy as I have just completed HGP and did a lot then.
