Week Three: Entry/Foyer

This week we look at the emtry/foyer into our homes. Making it nice and welcomiong is the main idea. As our home doesn't really have a foyer per say....I am going get a jump start on the office and then revisit that area again when that week pops up...it is a mess and so getting busy now will only make things easier.

You may either post your list for your foyer (if you have one), or perhaps the mud room, or substitute in another room like I am doing....Lets get moving girls...spring is just around the corner!!!

Office List for Week Three:

[ ] Clean off desk top
[ ] Move files to downstairs file cabinet
[ ] Clean off antique desk...set up as card and correspondence center
[ ] Clean desk drawer
[ ] File papers...papers...and more papers
[ ] Clean off shelf above computer
[ ] Put scattered books into library cabinet
[ ] General declutter
[ ] Set up desk top basket with supplies

Well thats about it for my week.....what do you have in mind for Week Three????

Arkansas-Go Razorbacks! Whoo Pig Sooie!
I haven't been too active in this, because life has gotten in the way of my plans! LOL! This week I plan to:

*work on the laundry room project-I'll start on this Thursday-Monday (today) I have regular things to do, and tomorrow I'm having guests in so I'll be preparing for that...Wednesday I have work-related things to do, so Thursday looks like the day!
*get things ready for Tuesday night
*laundry-3 loads left!!

I will be working on my entry/front hall this week.

[ ::candyheart: ]dust/vacuum ledge over front door
[ ::candyheart: ]clean/replace bulbs in chandelier
[]dust crown molding
[]clean out closet
[]clean 1/2 bath
[]dust furniture
[]polish banister
[]vacuum & shampoo steps
[]clean wood floor

I really need to do the closet!! Purging coats, shoes, and games will be my focus. Hopefully I can get that done and still have time for the rest of my list.

I forgot that I got started in here during Fornt Porch week because it was too cold outside, so I can already mark 2 things off without even starting!!!

Doing cart-wheels, eh!? Whoo Hooo!! Good for you!

I haven't started my hall closets. We have a mysterious malfunction with the livingroom electricity ... it's shorted somewhere and nothing comes on and the breaker trips as soon as you try to reset it!
:thud:

So .... no lights in livingroom for 2 days! Have to get a 'real' electrician out. Hubby and friend tried first. The silly thing is that our son's ceiling fan seems to be on same circuit as the livingroom ... it wasn't written on the panel that way!!!
:slap:

Okay so I had a head start without even realizing it...lol

I cleaned and rearranged the entry last friday. I finally convinced my dad that we didn't need a coat rack next to the coat closet and off to the shed it went!! That gave me a better location for the wire rack I use for the kids shoes. The rack has 4 tiers. The top tier is for their lunch boxes, tier 2 is school shoes, tier 3 is play shoes, and tier 4 is baseball shoes. I have 3 boys so the left side houses my oldest boys tiered items, center twin ones', and right is twin twos' items.

Notice I put the "dirtier" shoes towards the bottom tiers (tier 3 play and tier 4 baseball) this way the school shoes don't get alot of dirt falling on them because you know that no matter how many times you remind them to shake out their shoes it doesn't ALWAYS happen...lol

Coat Closet- I wil need Dad to go through his items in there. I only have a box with some of the kids toys on the floor of the closet so I will check the toy inventory!!

Evry little bit helps! I bought a pack of 8 wooden hangers (under $5.00) for the entry closet. And I took out some rarely-worn coats and jackets. This leaves some room for guest coats.

I bought a rubber tray for $4 at the grocery store. It holds boots and other wet things that leak water. And when you put it on its side, it takes up hardly any room in the closet. Wet boots are often a problem - and I used to just put down lots of newspapers.

Last, I got a big grapevine wreath for the front door. It has eucalyptis leaves and small red flowers (all fake) and looks very pretty. :welcome:

I can't find our boot tray from last year so I put out an old cookie sheet with cooling racks-it keeps the boots up out of the water and the water off the floor. Before Christmas I put evergreen(cedar) on it and it smelled really nice when you came in.

The first month (January) I was decluttering to get ready for a move. DH is out in our new town in temp housing, but I had to stay behind (complicated). This month I am working on getting the house up and ready to sell.
