Katrina, I was thinking of HHP this week. There is a week where we look at "Spruce up for Christmas" projects around the house. It is just never enough time for us so I like to do that in the summer. I have that on my list to do in a few weeks. Temperatures are supposed to be very warm these next few days. Outdoor work will have to be done in the early morning and after dinner.

  • Weed Gardens
  • Clean Bathrooms.
  • Pay bills - Water Bill, Oil Bill; Phone Bill; Internet Bill;
  • Correspondence: Family History group;
  • Appts: Monday Night - Uniform Store; Tuesday - Orthodontist; Dentist; Wednesday - Graduation; Thursday - Air Conditioning Cleaning; Party;
  • Menu Planning
    • Menu plan for Vacation Meals, and upcoming week.
    • Check that ingredients for planned meals are in the house.
    • Make a grocery list.
    • Buy groceries.
    • Food Prep: Cut up onions, peppers and carrots for upcoming meals.
  • FlyLady: Kitchen
    • Dust top of fan.
    • Clean oven.
    • Clean microwave.
    • Clean out the refrigerator.
    • Wipe down cabinets and appliances.
    • Wash floor.
    • Clean Windows.
    • Wipe down the trash can.
    • Wipe down wall and door jambs.
  • Graduation- Press off gown, cards, gift, pictures;
  • Upload pictures from last week
  • Do weekly reflection.
  • Staple reflection papers to the planner pages.
  • Update journal.
  • Finalize Vacation Plans - Menu; Make ahead meals; Shopping; Activities and rain dates; Print packing list;
  • Order uniform and books (Will hold off on books. Changes in book list are happening.)

Mary, another very busy week for you, I sure admire your energy.
Is there a lot that will be added to your 'spruce up' list?

Well, my energy isn't always there especially at night. It's stuff that needs to get done so it gets done. This week is extra tough because there is nothing that I can cut out. It's all the basic things.

As for the spruce up list, I have some things on there now like replace the toilet seats, spray the siding and sidewalk with moss/algaie killer, and fix the sidewalk pathway lights. I want to go through each room in the house and look at areas to see if I want to replace anything that is broken and/or isn't working out in that space, I guess it comes down to the question - "Does what I have now still fill the purpose?"

I love this. Just because something was useful/wanted/needed in the past does not mean it is now.

There's a part of me that hates to say this but there is a part of me that is finding freedom in saying this - What I use to do as in traditions, obligations, etc. before March 2020 and what I want to do as far as traditions, obligations, etc. in June 2021 have changed. I've seen what I miss and what I don't miss. I'm now looking at relationships with people and "traditional obligations" and asking myself, "Where's the joy in this? Does this outing, person, etc. bring me joy?" It's something that I'm wrestling with right now.

Mary, I think there will be many who are re-evaluating many things since March 2020. Just as in many other past historical events, this has reshaped us. Try this year without some of the things you don't think you'll miss. If you find out it was something that brought you joy, it can always be added back in next year.
