Well, I thought I had my menu for Christmas dinner down . . . It came out in conversation (twice in the last 10 days) that DD and DSIL would like to spend the last 2 weeks of the year in Florida. But that depends on their finding a vacation rental that will allow them to bring their dog. Boarding facilities they use are already fully booked, and the two individuals who often watch their pup are traveling for the holidays. While there are hotels that allow dogs, they do not allow dogs to be left in the room while their owners are off-site. This tells me that DD and DSIL are moving ahead with relocation plans.
My plan was to host Christmas dinner with DD, DSIL, and two friends of the family (2 brothers, friends of DSIL's who I've gotten to know over the years, who lost their mother to COVID). And I'd planned on driving South on the 27th, arriving on the 29th or 30th. So, until DD and DSIL finalize their plans, my dinner menu is up in the air. Am I cooking for 3 or 5? Or do I head south earlier, and the 2 other guys fly down???? My head hurts ...
NOTE: DD and DSIL have a 45 lb. pup; my Florida complex has a 25 lb. limit, and it's for owners only. Ownership is in Trust, so she's technically an owner, and we could probably squeak by. But pup is still 20 lbs. too big. DSIL's parents' complex (about 45 mins. south of me) has limits, too. Plus, we're both 2 hours or more from where they'll be looking.
