When I look at these lists that we post it is so obvious that Mums all cross the world have busy and active lives.
My DH is an amazing man and does more than his fair share but still most of the household and child care (or elder care) falls to the Mums.

I hope that we can all take a little time this week to take care of ourselves so that we can take care of others.

  • made overnight oats for my breakfasts this week
  • cut pineapple and put in small bowls for work snacks
  • prepped small bowls of yogurts & fruits for dessert (lunches)
  • made hamburger patties with a big pack of ground beef
  • got LR curtains aired (or rather dh took care of that one)
  • mopped kitchenette and bathroom floors
  • started washing guard rails (have 1/3 done) - the sooth from the neighbor's garage fire last Fall seems to wash out now (it didn't at the time but with winter and rain it seems to be easier to take off)
  • Washed my winter bedding and got the summer one on my bed
  • I have a wood lantern that I emptied of Easter decor and filled with spring/summer decorations.

Lucie, Oh my goodness. I am always amazed at how busy you are. That is an amazing list to get through in a weekend.
I often say to people that I work harder at home than I do at work.

Mid week pep talk - Little steps are better than no steps. :D

I am slowly getting things done. The outdoor work has been a bit harder to schedule around since we've been getting lots of rain.

It only took me until now  to realize that asking myself "What is different this month that I need to plan for?" and then writing it out on paper, is helping me to feel less stress. I have the calendar with the events but what I wasn't doing was also adding in the extras that some of these events require. For instance, "DAR meeting," on the calendar also means that I have to make a potluck dish, remember to bring the dish, leave early, set up for the meeting, and clean up after the meeting. Or "Peter's Party" also means that I need to pick up a card and gift.

So now, I'll write the details for the event in the weekly view section of the calendar. I am hoping that adding in extra details will help with me feeling like I am shopping every day to pick up the forgotten items.

Mary, how simple it seems. I have just realised the same thing while reading your post. I write things like Mum's birthday in the planner but haven't written the details such as wrap gift or write on card. Why has it taken so long for me to realise this??
Thanks for the insight, going to update my planner with more details.

I put events/special days in my planner as well and then backtrack a week or ten days to add things like buy and mail cards, pick up wrapping paper, buy gift/gift cards, etc. I have one of those perpetual calendars so I can transfer the dates into my 2019 planner and then go from there.

Mary, I love to use asunder sticky notes on my weekly days when I have extras to remember. They range in size from smaller than a stamp up to 3x5 and in all different shapes, but if I have things that need to be done beyond just the noted "happening," I have those reminders.

What I've realized too this week with Pam and Jane's suggestions is that I will do those things from September through December with HHP but not the rest of the year. HHP helps me to fine tune things each year. I've never really paid as much detail outside the holidays except for the big milestone parties.
