The first night you sleep in your flannel pajama pants and long-sleeved T-shirt. And the first ballgame you come home from frozen to death and get in bed under the electric blanket!

Standing in a freezing cold field last weekend (Nov 5th) with my 2 smalls watching all the fireworks....and then spending the night in the tent!

My most magical moment of the holidays was in 1982 when my grandmother had fallen and broke her arm and pelvic bone in early December. When she came home from the hospital, she needed a nurse to help her, but there wasn't one available. So, I was asked to come help her as I had worked with some handicapped people in college to pay for school.

The first night with her, I realized that I was fulfilling a promise to my grandfather, to "take care of Grandma". He appeared in my dream after he died and asked me to take care of her, so I had to say yes even though it took 12 years to make it happen.
Yes this is a Christmas moment even though it sounds a little spooky.

For me it is the first Christmas tree I see atop a car - usually Thanksgiving weekend.

Not holiday related but funny...

Evan: Mom did you know Aunt Sissy takes part of her eyes out at night before going to sleep?

Katie: hmmm....no...how do you know that...?

Evan: I saw her putting them back in the next morning....

(referring to contacts....LOL)
