National Stamp Collecting Month- Remember when every young boy had a stamp collection? Stamps are more beautiful now than ever but less and less people are collecting them..hmmmm.. Maybe this year in your journal or holiday notebook dedicate a page to the stamps you chose for your holiday mailings. Place a stamp on the page and tell why you chose the stamp etc…

5th- Did you know that on this day in 1947 was the first EVER televised presidential speech? On this day in 1947 President Harry Truman made the first-ever televised presidential address from the White House, asking Americans to cut back on their use of grain in order to help starving Europeans.
A little history lesson: Europe was still recovering from World War II and suffering from famine. Truman was afriad that ,if the U.S. didn't provide food aid, his administration's Marshall Plan for European economic recovery would fall apart.
Television was still in its infancy so few Americans actually heard the speech, but it did signal the beginning of what was to become a vital part of the presidency-the media!

7th- National Noodle Day – use your noodle or boil it- you choose.

8th- The first hair perm is applied in 1906. Over 100 years of curl, wave, body- whatever you want to call it. I remember sitting in the kitchen getting my first “Toni” perm – do you?

9th- National Dessert Day- some things are easier the celebrate than other!

10th- National Angel Food Cake Day. Angel Food Cake is a very light, often fat free cake that contains about 120 calories per 2oz. slice.

11th-National Sausage Pizza Day-

12th- Farmer’s Day- thank a farmer today even if it is just saying Cheers! At the lunch table to the people who grew your food.

13th- Milton Hershey Died in 1945 – oh Milton how you changed our lives with a little thing called a Kiss! Have you tried the new Candy Corn and Pumpkin Spice Hershey’s kisses this year? Yum!

14th- Martin Luther King Jr was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (1964)

15th- "I Love Lucy" premiered on television. (1951) - what a great show- look one up on the internet and have a little laugh on the red-head…
