In March, we celebrated Chip and Dip Day at my house, with everyone bringing a different dip. I also made up bags of dry dip mix for "party favors." My parties are a lot smaller now, but they are still fun with lots of talk, laughter, and food, of course.

In April, we had afternoon tea and Easter crafts. We decoupaged eggs, which was a fun and messy experience.

In May, we will create our miniature gardens and I'm thinking a Salad lunch will be a great idea, fresh and tasty!

JUNE: TBD

July: Since Christmas in July is on a Friday, I am planning to host a Christmas Happy Hour, with appetizers and holiday drinks.

My parties tend to be focused around holidays -- New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter (but I didn't host this year), and then we get into Memorial Day and 4th of July. We also do a garden party fund-raiser with my bible study group and I think the salad supper sounds wonderful.

Ginger- I love that idea!!!
Maybe I'll suggest that at work!

At work we are doing Taco Salad buffet for Cinco de Mayo!
We are going to get the Taco shell bowls and everything.

What wonderful ideas shared here. I need to look forward to what is happening in the up coming months.
The next big holiday here will be Mother's Day and my Mum's birthday both to be celebrated on May 11th,

Haven't even thought about Mother's Day. I wonder if I will be celebrated.

Enjoying a "Mother's/Grandmother's Day" tonight since I won't be home in May, visiting my daughter's family in NC. Blessed with a DL so thoughtful to have us over for cookout and to spend time with them.

It’s time to start planning holiday parties!!!

What are your plans? I know we will be hosting the in laws for Thanksgiving and I will co-host with my brother for my side’s Thanksgiving at the farm. More on this later.

I believe it’s my turn to host the in-laws for Christmas as well.

I am making lists and menus and will share them as we get closer in.

I can’t wait to see what you all have planned!!!

Thanksgiving will probably be small, but a lot of cooking nonetheless.

However in two weeks it will a combination Hanukkah/75th birthday party for DH and I am expecting a FULL house so I should, realistically, start planning now.

Some years I host Christmas Day, other times it's at DD's house. I casually mentioned to a couple of friends who were here for July 4th fireworks that, if I didn't host Christmas this year, I'll be hosting a "take down the tree" party before I head south. They all mentioned that I would be great and a lot of fun. May need to give that more thought as planning for the holidays gets underway.

This sounds like fun and something to do after all the rush of Christmas.

Our extended family has set a date for 23rd November for our annual get together. It will be the first time that we are not hosting but will help out with whatever my SisIL needs.

Our Christmas party with our pastor friends will be at the winery again. Everyone enjoys the fancy dinner out, our treat. We are pampered by the wait staff and sit at the same table every year in front of the giant fireplace.
will be just the 2 of us for Thanksgiving. Our son spends the holiday with his birth mother so he can be here for Christmas.
Christmas will be the 3 of us.

In years past I would host Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for maybe 5 - 13 people. Now I don't cook, I go to a sis house for both holidays. However, last year around Christmas I had a friend and her dh over for lunch. They both have health issues and don't decorate. Their 2 kids are in SC. I still decorate, and they seemed to enjoy it. We may do that again if they want to.

Kate, I think it is a lovely idea to host a lunch. My Mum for many years has hosted a lunch for a few friends who are either alone or go to other family for Christmas. She gets a great deal of joy and looks forward to this every year.

Our annual family Christmas was held on November 23rd at DD's house. It was a great day. We all pitched in and made or bought something to share. The weather was nice, warm enough to barbeque but not so hot that it was uncomfortable. We took some lovely family photos around the tree and over all it was a very nice day.
