GrammaDeb - Sounds neat. Kind of "Walton'ish" ...

Puternut - I watch the parade too, but I record it and can run through commercials!

Greeting all,

It is so nice to see what others are planning - such delicious-sounding dinners!

This year we will have:
*Shrimp ****tail
*Salad: Baby Field Greens, Dried Cranberries, cheddar Cheese, & Candied Pecans w/ apple cider vinaigrette
*Turkey w/ Cornbread & sausage stuffing, giblet gravy
*Served with: whipped potatoes, butternut squash, buttered green beans, cranberry-orange relish, and bakery basket.
*Dessert: Pumpkin pie w/ whipped cream & Indian pudding w/ vanilla ice cream

Drinks: *Martinis to start
*Chilled Chardonnay with main course
*Cafe au lait
*Chilled cider for the kids

***Later in the evening I also prepare a nibble-tray for those who want "just a little something": Cheese straws, nuts, fruit, cheese, crackers, and chex-mix & candy corn for the kids.

Jampss, those are too cute!

I think for the first time ever, I will get to have a thanksgiving meal at our home. DD22 and her DH will go to his mom's for the actual day, so I think we will do ours with DS, DDIL, DD22, DSIL, and DD18 along with DGSs Wednesday night. My mom will still have it at her house thanksgiving day and I will go help her that day because my sister, her children and grandchildren and two of my cousins along with their children and grandchildren will be at her house - about 30 people at her house.

I plan to make:

Fried Turkey
Picnic Ham
Dressing and Giblet gravy
Cranberry Sauce
7-Layer Salad
Broccoli Salad
Mashed Potatoes
Doritos Casserole (for DGS#2)
Rolls

Pecan Pie
Fresh Apple Cake

Tea

I can hardly wait!

Miss Janne, What is Dorito casserole? Sounds like something my teenage son would really like!

Gidget, it's an "updated version" of King Ranch casserole.

1 large bag Nacho Doritos, slightly crushed
4 chicken breasts (or leg quarters, if you perfer), boiled, boned and chopped
1 can each cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup
1/2 cup milk
6 oz. Velveeta cheese
1 can diced tomatoes with green chile peppers

Mix soups, milk, Velveeta, and tomatoes. Microwave until cheese is melted. Add chopped chicken. Layer 1 layer of Doritos into a 9x13 inch pan. Top with soup mixture. Repeat. Bake at 350 degrees until bubbly, about 25 minutes. I usually cover mine until about the last 10 minutes.

Not healthy at all, but it's my 4YO DGS's favorite! :)

Gidget your meals always sound amazing.

Just found out mom is having it again at her house. One of her sister and her DH come and pick up their parents on the way down. We are doing the work schedule and I am off the tues and WEd before the first time in more years than I can count so maybe we will go to moms and relax. I do have to be back for work on Friday.
