Making quick notes regarding our first Winter at the farm.
It was actually colder than I thought.
We were quite comfy though. The windows and doors were well insulated, no obvious draughts.
Our bedroom was quite cosy, remember to open curtains to let in the sun and to close them up around 4pm.

For next year....
continue to stockpile fireplace wood throughout the year so we have a good supply come Autumn 2026.

Katrina, it will be exciting to hear how these next few months go for you in your new home!

Julianna, I like that you have a reminder to water your plants. My dc left their plants here to be picked up later. I don't think that will ever happen. LOL! I am trying to remember to water them on Sundays.

This is my first official week back in the classroom. My days have been reduced to two days a week. I am looking forward to having one day being open to help out or visit with family. The other two days will be for getting things done around the house or medical appointments.

Now with HHP in the picture, I may end up doing some extra deep cleaning and decluttering with those days at home. We are nowhere near moving but I think it would be good to clean and declutter as if I have to pack things up to move. I want to go through things in each room thoughtfully and consider whether it is worth keeping or donating.

Weekly:
  • Menu Planning for this week
  • Meal Prep for this week
  • Dust/Vacuum/Mop
  • Bills
  • Laundry
  • Groceries
  • End of Last Week Reflection
  • Set Research/Writing Goals

Monthly: Kitchen
  • Dust the top of the fan.
  • Clean the oven.
  • Clean the microwave.
  • Clean out the refrigerator.
  • Wipe down cabinets and appliances.
  • Wash the floor.
  • Clean Windows.
  • Wipe down the trash can.
  • Wipe down the wall and door jambs.
Additional:
  • HHP
  • Highlight map of Acadia hikes, years done, and note elevation grade. I can't find elevation percentages.
  • Sort through mementos and papers.
  • Write recipes on recipe cards.
  • House Projects: Declutter Office, Guest Bedroom
  • Start thinking about making double batches of meals to freeze for December dinners.

Mary, I hope that the new school year is amazing and stress free. 2 days a weeks seems like a nice workload.
