Here we are heading into April....for you, some Spring fun and for us here in Australia time to snuggle and get ready for the Winter. What plans do you have for Spring?

I feel like that too. I think that we still have so much time and then I remember how quickly the time flies past and think that I better get moving if I am to get it all done.
Today in Australia is ANZAC Day. Almost our national day as it means so much to us all. Today we remember all who have made the ultimate sacrifice and served our country.
The origins of ANZAC Day date from 25th April 1915 when troops from Australia and New Zealand ( Australia New Zealand Army Corps) landed at Gallipolli by sea at dawn. It was an intense battle and there were many casualties.
It is regarded as the time that Australia really became a nation as we had only become a federation in 1901 and as a country we were still very small. Many of our young men did not return and it took many years to rebuild our country and workforce. We are so grateful to those original ANZACs.
Today there will be many services, some at dawn to commemorate that first dawn landing. Most cities and towns will have a march for veterans and descendants followed by lunches and gatherings. For me it is very personal as my parents, brother and husband have all served and my dear dad died in 1999 from illness that he contracted while serving in Vietnam.
