Katrina, I grew up not far from Frankenmuth. It's a German town and very tourist oriented. The store is huge. Mom's neighbor works there. When Mom passed she gave each of us (5) a personalized ornament. Her job there was to personalize ornaments for customers.

There is a Christmas barn about 45 minutes drive from my Mum's house and it is lovely. The idea of visiting a whole Christmas town excites me. I can just imagine visiting when it is snowy and magical. I do not know of anything like that here but it would be amazing to find.
I think that the European Christmas markets would be wonderful also. Hot mulled cider anyone?

Have any of you been or are planning to go at all?
Went there with camping friends a few year ago.

Indeed a cute little town and the store is something else - even had a small Hanukkah display for the rest of us:)

I do remember eating at one of the local restaurants but I can't remember which one.

I just saw this ad on a Christmas Facebook page. What a wonderful town and a magical shop.

I would love to hear of your experience.
I just saw this post. I've been there many times, starting back when I was a kid. The store is like 3 football fields, and takes at least 2 hours to get thru. They have Christmas music playing and the walls and ceiling are decorated with plush animals and outdoor decor. It's truly amazing. In town there are small shops and restaurants. They decorate the street with gorgeous flowers and it looks like an alpine village. They have horses pulling carriages too that you can ride. Expensive but nice. It's just a nice getaway. They have a couple campgrounds too.

Oh Kate, what a wonderful description of what seems to be a magical place.
I can just imagine walking along the snow covered streets and looking through windows. The shop sounds absolutely amazing. 2 hours to go through!!! I would have to save up my pocket money so that I could buy what I saw and fell in love with.

Do you have plans to visit again soon?

Oh yes! I'll probably go again next month. I bought a sis a sweatshirt last visit and it's too small, so I need to return it. Then I like to go in the late fall too. I should take pictures next time and share.

218 days till Christmas
Faye. thank you.
The next few months seem to drag for me, and then from September onwards it is crazy busy.
Do you all feel the same?

September is officially one of my favorite months. I think it's the anticipation of the promise of relief from the heat in the South.

I agree with September being a wonderful month. Here it heralds the start of Spring, renewal and a fresh start after a long cold Winter. I also see it as the beginning of the best time of the year. So many exciting things.

But until then we continue waiting for Christmas, still so many wonderful things to celebrate as we inch forward.
