Ahhh... Autumn... I love how it draws you into a time of reflection and slowing the pace as you get ready for winter and rest.

We are gearing up for spring in 3 weeks. I'm trying to get my decluttering and cleaning done because once the nice weather hits, I'll be outside doing yard work and getting ready for graduations.

I attended a family history online conference for the last 4 days. I have clarity in what I want to do now. I'm dropping some things that I was doing just to do. I am adding things that will benefit me because I want to do it. I'm feeling revived already.

Weekly
  • Clean Bathrooms.
  • Pay bills -
  • Correspondence:
  • Appts:
  • Menu Planning
    • Check that ingredients for planned meals are in the house.
    • Make a grocery list.
    • Buy groceries.

    • Wipe down wall and door jambs.
    • Dust Chandelier.
    • Wipe down dining room chairs
  • Do weekly reflection.
    • Staple reflection papers to the planner pages.
  • Do monthly reflection.
  • Update journal.
To do if time permits

Mary, where are you located? Do you have a big yard, do you plant veggies and such or just maintain a garden?

We live in Pennsylvania. We do have a nice size yard. We attempted a vegetable garden and fruit trees for a number of years but gave up on that about 10 yrs. ago. The deer, squirrels, rabbits, raccoons and birds were getting to the food quicker than us. I've been doing potted herbs for years. We keep them outside on the back patio. Last spring I added some new ones like tarragon and lemon grass. I also added some potted grape tomatoes and potted mini peppers. The vegetables were doing fine on the patio until 3 weeks into autumn. The deer started coming up on our patio.

Most of my time goes into maintaining the 10 flower beds around the perimeter of the house and in our back yard. I've been transitioning the beds over the last few years to just having small bushes. I use to plant bulbs and ground cover there. I have a few more beds that need the ground cover removed. It makes weeding out the tree saplings easier.

Mary, are you planting flowering perennials? I have been working on a 3 season perennial garden in the front of my house. I had the same issues with deer and squirrels in my nice size yard. In the winter the deer munch on my arborvitae trees. They are sadly misshapen.
It does not help at all that our neighbors feed the deer. Sunday, we had a herd in the backyard, 7-9 eating at the trough she has set up. I get it they get hungry but if there isn't any food? They come munching on landscape.

I had tulips and daffodils and other bulbs which I sadly did not see. The squirrels either dug them up or by the time they did pop through the soil, the deer got to them. I spent so much time and money on them.

As for your neighbor feeding the deer, I have the same issue with the neighbors behind me. The deer just keep coming back for more. Oh, I forgot about the groundhogs that like to take a bite out of the tomatoes and then toss them. Why oh why do they continue to do that? Can't they remember from day to day that they don't like tomatoes?

I have heard before that if you put hair in the beds that it will deter deer. I'm not sure how true that is. So if any of you cut your DH's hair, save the clippings and give it a try.

This sounds amazing to me. Deer and squirrels are beautiful and I can imagine them prancing around the forrest not eating your plants. They seem too beautiful to be a pest.
It would be like kangaroos and koalas coming into my yard and eating the plants.

I had some changes to my schedule ... Monday was a vet trip when I noticed DS17's male cat have a possible UTI. And because of the meds and needing to change over to urinary food slowly ... we have postponed going to visit the grandparents. I said they could come here. And for less stress on DS ... we would wait to visit at the end of April when this semester is done.

His cat has ... FIC ... a condition that is caused by ... STRESS! So, he is stressed by DS's stress? What? And there are evironmental factors, etc. The cat has crystals in his urine and you don't want those clumping together and trying to go down urethra and blocking. He has some meds for two days and a prescription cat food. But ... it's got cornmeal and I don't like that ... so I researched and found one with no grains at the local pet shop ... but they were out till Thursday.

The migraine I had this week really threw me off my schedule as far as getting productive moving tasks done. I have a lot of catch up to do, hopefully this weekend. Good news is that there's not too much left inside the house and the areas left shouldn't take super long and I should be able to knock them out in a few days if I really keep at it. The garage is going to be the biggest thing. DD and I are completely off our workout schedule but hopefully we can pick it back up next week.

It's been a busy week here for me. I feel off my game for getting things on "my" list done. I had to really work hard the last two days to get things done.
