For those of us headed into the colder months of the year - or for anyone that wants to share! - what kind of to do's do you have running through your brain to get ready!
I feel like winter type conditions always seem to hit overnight - I'm sailing along in blissfully sunny moderate temp fall days - some rainy days maybe - and WHAM! My car is frosted solid - I can't find my ice scraper - no gloves - DS needs boots and snowpants, etc.
I now have certain things I start thinking about/prepping for around this time so I don't have to suffer through those whammy moments!
Winter Preps:
- Locate (ahem, harder than it sounds sometimes ) and wash all winter coats - then put in living room closet
- Bring down baskets of hats, gloves, scarves and put back in living room closet; wash hats and gloves as needed (use mesh bags to keep velcro items separate)
- Locate boots for DH and myself and put in Liv Room closet
- Locate ice scrapers and make sure one is in each vehicle
- Purchase rock salt, including pet friendly kind
- Purchase snowboots, snowpants and snowgloves for DS
- Switch out summer for winter things in closets/dressers
- Talk to DH about picking date to put winter windshield wiper fluid in my car - schedule it using Google calendar so I don't forget!
- Make sure we know where snow shovels are (did they get taken out to the back shed? Are they buried? Did they go on walk about?
- Confirm car emergency kit, bottles of water and extra blankets. (DS frequently covers up with a fleece throw I keep in the car - helps take the chill off the drive to school in the mornings!)
Anything else you guys can think of? Any funny stories to share of moments when you were NOT so prepared?
