My word is "complete." As I went through my personal goals for the year through the viewpoint of "complete" I've seen that my goals have evolved. The short version is I'm only completing personal goals that bring me joy. I'm not completing personal projects that I have felt obligated or guilted into completing. Those projects don't bring me joy. The one thing that I've learned from this rough twelve months is that life is too short to spend my free time on things that I don't enjoy doing just because I feel guilted or obligated into doing it.

How right you are, Mary!!!!!!!!

I have made some growth on my word, "Attack!"
I have used it to spur me on at work on projects that just don't interest me (like building a new jail and getting a whole new computer system- hours and hours of meetings), but that's my job and what I get paid to do so when I feel myself dreading the tasks involved, I think "Attack!"

Also at home when I feel too tired to do my index card list or other things I always say I want to do, I say, "Attack!"

So it has helped spur me on.

Mary, I totally agree. We all deserve joy in our lives don't we?

Annie. I do admire your tenacity. I get such inspiration from you.

We are moving into the last 3 months of the year. Time for me to revisit my WOTY and track how I am going.
I did lose a bit of focus over the first few months of Winter, I just found it hard to get moving. There was a bit of planning done but not too much else.
Over the last few weeks the weather has began to warm up a little and I am feeling a little more energised and ready to achieve a few more things on my list. I want to get "Value" out of the remainder of the year and ensure that the leadup to Christmas and Summer is productive. A stress free Christmas is the aim.

The other day I was thinking it was time to start thinking for "25 a word. My word this year was Doer and I think I have been okay on it. Could always do better but I am getting stuff done.

I always think that the WOTY is just a guide. Sometimes we do really well and sometimes we don't.
I will start thinking of my 2025 word soon. I wonder what will speak to me.

In revisiting my WOTY, I waffled between non-judgmental and intentional, and I chose intentional. While I've made strides in being intentional in my words and actions, it still needs work. But, in retrospect, I should have chosen non-judgmental. Perhaps for 2025, I'll go with non-judgmental with a sprinkle of intentional added in.

Something shifted in me this summer and I like it. I have taken some hefty courses so that I can become a better researcher of my family history. I have several lines that I felt like I should have been able to get back further after all of these years researching. Some of the problems in the courses were extremely difficult and challenging. Those problems showed me that sometimes, you can't answer the research question in the time and resources that you have and it's okay.

In mid-June, at the end of the last class I took, I had an one-on-one meeting with the teacher. She showed me why I couldn't find what I wanted to find. It had nothing to do with me. That's when I had my aha moment. I began to accept that some things really are beyond me answering based on what is known now. It was a reiteration that I can't always answer the research question in the time that I have and it's okay.

Since then, I've applied that idea that it's okay if I don't have the answer to the questions in life. I don't have to keep searching for the answer. While my word for the year is Complete as in finishing a task, I am actually feeling more complete as in fulfilled. Because I am feeling more fulfilled, I am completing more meaningful things.

Now that being said, we are entering the holiday cleaning and prepping season. I have completed the HHP to the best of my ability over the years. I am curious to see what happens. Will I feel fulfilled when I complete the plan? Will I do more meaning things?

Prepared was my word this year. I have continued to feel prepared with household chores with my "almost Fly lady" routines and lists in my calendar/planner. I like seeing what is coming up or when I need a card/gift or where I have to have DS to for an appointment. I feel prepared with the prepper pantry. I feel prepared with Christmas presents with my shopping all year this year for a first and my list of who I got what. I started early on crochet Christmas gifts and so I feel prepared there, too.

I am working with DS's life coach and counselor to be prepared to step back some in 2025 and get him plugged into the independent living agencies in town that help young adults with special needs . This one is ... going ... slow ...

My word of the year is: Attack!
As with most years, it has been a journey as I do not "Attack" as much as I should in life.

I will say, when I would feel myself not moving on stuff, I would mentally say: "Attack!"

So it did help me.

Progress not perfection.

Wonder what word 2025 will bring.........

My word for the year will be value.

I feel that especially in 2024......
I need to value the job that I have and the financial freedom it gives me.

I need to value the farm, the work DH has done to provide us with a comfortable home for our future.

I need to value the time I have at home, the fact that I am able to be at home some days, I cannot waste the time I have.

I need to value the money that we have, make the most of it, be mindful of what I do with it, do not waste it.
This also means valuing what we have in the home, use it up, don't waste things.

Most of all I need to value the time I have with friends and family. My tribe is very small but intensely important to me, I am blessed.
This also includes all of you here whose friendship means the world to me.
I think that I did very well with my WOTY in 2024.
I did have to pop on here every so often and remind myself of why I chose the word VALUE. I will make a note in my planner to revisit my WOTY in 2025. I might do this at the beginning of each season as a reminder.
Overall I was really happy with my word and my responses to that word.

These are interesting questions to answer. I do feel fulfilled in completing the plan. It wasn't the housework part that fulfilled me but the holiday prep part. For me the preparing is the heart of each holiday. Creating happy memories through decorations, table settings, fun foods, etc. is what drives me. Since I was sick most of December, I only did the meaningful things to me.

I am happy with "Complete" as my 2024 word. My biggest takeaway from this word is that the unfinished projects do have a timeline to complete. It was 2024. If it didn't get completed, the project got tossed in the trash. It was really quite freeing.

I think I might use this approach in 2025. I have had projects on the boil for years. If they were important to me I would have completed them by now. Time for a rethink and if these projects are not a priority the come off the to do list.
