Thank you, Mary!
That is helpful advice!!!!!!!

When I wrote the above, I meant what my home looks like physically.
Tying it to what activities I do that will either enable me to be home more,
takes it even deeper.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Annie

I have been practicing my WOTY. I explored 2 new to me stores yesterday with DGS while we were out yesterday. Tonight I am heading to a high school show choir presentation of a former kindergarten student. I will be attending with the teacher ( I was her instructional assistant) and the student's parent.

halimer- I'm with you!
I will strive to make Jody proud! :)

I feel there is more I should do. Mostly travel..... Big trips. Europe, cruises.
Haven't quite gotten there yet. Mostly due to time and $$. I don't think I would go solo.
I would join a group. I did look up groups where they gather single people together to go.
Not to hook people up. Just to do the trip together.

There is a museum exhibit up in Phoenix- I am planning a solo day, maybe overnight, trip to see it.

Jody- One time I saw a h.s. friend post on fb, "Looking for women in the Reno area who want to attend such things as: lectures, musical events, theater, movies, dining experiences. No drama or gossip."
I admired she put that out there and got a group going!

And my book club started with one gal posting: I like books. I like brunch. Anyone want to do a book and brunch club?
If so, let me know. We just started our 3rd year.

Maybe some church ladies would like to join you.

Annie
After I lost my DH passed (2014) I felt that I’d lost that ability to travel and it became one of the things I missed most. Four years later, I started talking with my daughter about doing a “girla trip.” And then I thought, no, I need to do this on my own. Where would I go that would make DH proud, knowing that I did it on my own? I booked a flight to Miami and drove to the Keys. It was just a 4 night/5 day get-away, but I did it. Travel after was done in groups, but I know I can do it on my own, if I want or need to. Almost freeing. Go for it!

I had a great time last night. We had a great visit while eating, then headed to the play (not a show choir as I thought). We were greeted by two other former (brother-sister twins) and their parents. The play was wonderful. The talents of this cast were awesome. The student we were there to see played varying roles and did so well. Part of the fun was watching the high schoolers who were in the audience. Their reaction to the different scenes made us laugh so hard. They were well invested.
After I talked to the student and found out they put the play together in two months, with a two-week Christmas break.

I am so happy I explored my horizons.

I don't have quite enough courage for that yet although I do go to the theater by myself.
I have gone to the movies by myself & eaten alone in restaurants. I have traveled by myself to go to Pittsburgh when my son had heart surgery & to Alaska. Once was for Mom's heart surgery & the other for Dad's funeral & also to dgd's wedding.
I want to go on a cruise. It is a bucket list item. As of now, I have no one to go on a cruise with.

I am not sure if it is an option but are there any singles cruises? Not singles as in finding a date but singles as in people travelling alone. That could be a fun option.

Revisiting my WOTY, comfortable.
I have not been feeling very healthy of late and I was not able to fulfill my role as volunteer at the cafe or for DrillDance, two things that I really enjoy doing.
I was however comfortable in letting the relevant people know my decision. Normally I would dither with letting them know but once I had decided it was an easy conversation to have.

That's fantastic! I bet the more you do this, the more comfortable you will be .

This year with working one less day during the week, I use that extra day to visit and/or be available to help out with family as needed. However, with additional family members needing a bit of help, it has caused me a dilemma. Do I spend an additional day helping out family? I took time to sit and be present with myself and prayed. I felt peace with the original idea of one day a week to be with others.

Mary, you have a giving heart. I am pleased that you went with your original plan. You will cherish that extra time to do something for your self which I know is one of your priorities this year.
