Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey
Self-Help (I guess-not sure of a category)

I've had this book for a couple years now, my dad got it for me, so I finally decided to crack it open. I pretty much skimmed the entire first half to get to the meat of the book. We don't do credit cards or anything like that and aren't in a lot of debt so I found the first half to be unnecessary reading for me. There are some good principles here that I am going to apply and see what happens. The Debt Snowball will be the biggest takeaway to payoff what little we do owe on one vehicle and my motorcycle and writing out a budget every month because I don't currently do that. We don't live paycheck to paycheck either, but starting to have a budget will be helpful to prepare for retirement in the coming years. I believe USAA will actually help with that by doing a breakdown of where our money goes so I can see how much goes to what. I'll have to delve into our account and see if it actually does that. Would be great if so. I keep a monthly record of bills and how much they are every month for the past several years in an Excel document. Anyway, looking forward to getting started on this project and will add time in my planner for it.

1/19 "Girl, Wash your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be," by Rahel Hollis. This is a Christmas gift from my daughter, who has been reading it, and she thought it might be good for us to read it together. Love it!
Lori K, what a title that is. Will keep an eye out for it. A benefit of doing this challenge is that me may all find other books to read and inspire us.

Jessica, check out Every Dollar Budget https://www.everydollar.com/ I use this for our retired dollars. Now that Christmas is over we won't be spending the extra $ what is associated there. Keep reading and do each baby step in order and in 24-30 months or less you will be Debit free. He has a radio show that I listen online.

The 19 in 19 has inspired me to read the 19 unread books on my shelf this year. They won't cover the various genres listed. I tend to stick to non-fiction: spiritual and history. I am not going to the library or buying another book until these 19 are done.

I love to read but find my self just reading and nothing else. I'm not a good bedtime reader- I'll read an entire book in one night. I do have time when my sewing machine is running. And my friend just gave me a stack of books. I know I can easily do 19 in 19!
My first book I've started - Stratagem by Robin Caroll.

Almost done with The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living by Meik Wiking
I wouldn't necessarily call it a Self-Help, but more of a Lifestyle book. I really enjoyed it!

Sounds interesting Jess. Will have a look for that one. Am getting quite the list of books to look for.

A thriller but it is really more about the process of writing a thriller. The author gets mixed up with her characters and the story.

I suppose that is the whole idea of this challenge. To try things that we don't normally do.
