I found some 5 x 8 index card divider sheets today and I thought...hmmmm....maybe I could do a December Art Journal with them....they are not as thick as chipboard but still workable. There were 25 in the package so I thought...its destiny!! December 1-25. We will see if I can actually CREATE something everyday ...lol The back of each page I am covering with Christmas scrap paper or wrapping paper. I am not doing any art on the backs...just the front...Here's December 1st...

I found another idea for the backs....after they are covered in paper....do a journaling box...either a Christmas Quotation or something I write myself...or anything....

I wasn't really satisfied with Day One so I added some doodling and some paper lace...I also used the binder rings to put all the cards together. I can still take out the page to work on it and then clip it back in the book.

I have started on Day 2 but not much...hope to finish it later tonight...The HO HO HO is Day 2 ....the other is the back of Day 1 with a quotation.

Day Three (from yesterday)....it is a page representing my silent auction basket I put together for the staff party. We raised over 1100 for local children who need gifts and food for Christmas!!

Done Shopping page...lol.....December 12th....I still want to add some pics torn from sales flyers etc to the page...

I am up to date on my art journal....well sort of....there are some pages like this one I want to finish up on...but since the art journal "ends" December 25th...I figure I can use the week between Christmas and New Years to finish it up...

The Christmas Art Journal is finished!! And only three days post Christmas!!!

I've decided to go back through the journal taking pictures of it and blogging about it over at Rudolph Ramblings. I thought it might be a fun topic as we move into dreary January and it gives me a "focus" for blogging. I plan to blog about the process, what worked, what didn't, what I learned about art and Christmas....and how it all fit into the busy busy days of December!

Also I would sometimes take pictures of pages and then add more to them after the picture....so the blo9g posts will show the journal pages as they actually ended up.

Ginger - I love your art journal...AND the thought process behind each day. The Santa cards and your outing with Evan are wonderful. What a great keepsake this will be! TFS!

Thanks....as I said...I tried this once back in 2007 without much success....This year I let go of the idea that it had to be "perfect" or a show piece or whatever...working with the index card dividers helped that a bit because they were just cheap pages and I wanted to see what I could do with them. It turned out that helped more than I realized....I also only did 1-25 and not the 1-Jan something that the Journal Your Christmas group does.
