Mary and Jess, you both have very busy schedules leading up to Christmas.
Remember to try and find time for some fun and some time to relax so that we too can enjoy the season.

Uh-oh! Any idea what might be going on? Hopefully it's just a dead battery!

Well, it was day 2 of the car sitting in the garage. My dds took my dh to work this morning and I picked him up. We knew it wasn't the battery because it took the charge and all the lights were on. We looked at other things like the alternator, the serpentine belt, the starter, and the solenoid. Based on the research, it didn't add up.

Then this evening, dh did some more research online and mentioned the key. It was a light bulb moment for both of us. On Sunday, dh replaced the battery on his key fob . We started the car with his key. Nothing. We started the car with my key. Voila! it started. So somehow, when he changed things with his key, something got messed up and the car didn't recognize his key. Thus, it won't start at all. Dh will have to get a new key from the dealership.

We were thinking that the car would have to be towed but now that we know what is happening, dh can use my keys for his car until we order the other keys. It won't be cheap but it is a better outcome than we anticipated.

On the bright side, we got to spend more time with dh for two days. :D

Mary, glad that you have discovered what is wrong with the car. Before buying a new key, ask if the original one can be reset. This happened with my old car and the key was "rebooted"

I shared the ideas with dh and they won't work. Dh wiil have to order a new key. In the mean time, he'll use the "valet" key. That key will start the car. They other key will unlock the car.

Remember how I was anticipating something to happen this week? Well, it did but I was ready! Keep in mind that we are having a Christmas Brunch on Sunday. Last weekend, the water dispenser on the door of our refrigerator was leaking. Dh shut off the water supply. The part was ordered and received on Friday. Dh decided to work on it today. The kitchen was torn apart. It was an all day ordeal. Thank goodness I did the brunch prep work on Monday and didn't save it for today which I had thought about doing. I wouldn't be able to get to the prep work until after dinner which is when I planned to work on the second part of of the brunch prep work.

That’s why timelines are so wonderful. My Christmas baking was to be done on Wednesday and Thursday. It didn’t happen. Still time to do it... it got done today. One of the 2 root beer cakes I made didn’t turn out as well as the other one was for us the other for neighbors. I may try to make it again for us.
